Remember the Jesse White Tumblers?
Yep, the SoS who's been a thorn in Roland Burris' side over the past weeks . . . neat.

In 1959, Jesse White founded the internationally known Jesse White Tumbling Team to serve as a positive alternative for the children residing in Chicago's Cabrini-Green and Henry Horner public housing communities. Since the team's inception, over 8,500 young men and women have performed with the team. White has worked for over 45 years as a volunteer with the team to help kids stay away from gangs, drugs, alcohol and smoking, and to help set at-risk youth on the path to success.

I saw them years ago in Chi-town. Maybe this explains why he's saying he's the "fall guy"! :-)

4. when an sro hotel burned down on chicago's northside a decade or so ago...
one of the jesse white tumblers saved his and his baby's life by jumping out a third floor window with the baby. being a tumbler, he knew how to land safely and without injuring himself or the baby.

5. I did that in high school in the late 50s. It's ridiculously fun.

I'm hardly athletic ... with congenital scoliosis, I've never been good except at swimming (breaststroke). But I got involved in tumbling in high school -- trampolines and mat work and leaping over human pyramids -- and loved it. When executed properly, it's spectacular and really quite safe and fun. Poor execution, however, can be dangerous. (Broken necks don't heal well.)
