Council To Vote On Single-Bottle Beer Ban
Proposal Has Failed Once Before

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Metro Council is meeting Tuesday night to discuss and vote on a controversial proposal to ban sales of single bottles of beer.

The ban applies only to stores inside the downtown interstate loop, which includes part of Jefferson Street and D.B. Todd Boulevard.

Supporters have said singles are easier to carry, easier to conceal and cheaper.

Those against it have said it is economic discrimination because the ban does not include the more expensive specialty beers.

Tuesday night is just first reading. It must pass to move on.
