Could Randi give the juvenile Franken-bashing a rest?
Edited on Wed Jan-07-09 03:55 PM by Adenoid_Hynkel
If it were based in policy and issues, I'd have no problem with it, but it seems to stem from the fact that he got more attention and a better time slot when Air America launched and nothing more.

Yes, she'd been in radio longer, but he was a bigger name. I've never heard Al say a bad word about her and I've listened to both regularly over the years.

I try to like Randi. She's great on the issues and knows her stuff, but her pettiness and egotism always manages to turn me off.

2. me too
I wrote her about this one time in the early years...to no avail. You could tell she was just jealous. Now maybe she wants to run for Senate.

3. I know the history, but what exactly is she saying?
I'd have thought even she could find a way to rally around a new D elected as Senator...

And fought for a complete recount.

It's not like he was appointed out of nowhere.

4. I love her. But she has always had a hair up her butt about Al.
Probably for the reasons you state. She should know she doesn't need to air her grievances about him. Is he a threat to her -- now? She's a star in her own right with a loyal following and we need them both working on the same side. Damn, can we Dems ever stop with the circular firing squad, or is it just in our DNA?

5. Yes, she is not perfect.
She has improved on NovaM - but she does let her egotism get in the way.

At least she does not shout people down anymore.

6. Randi will be "Randi." She'll stop soon but despite her foibles, I enjoy listening to her.
There are a number of times that I disagree with her trashing one personality or another but OVERALL, "Randi Rocks."

She's a very intelligent individual with a huge ego, JUST LIKE Al Frankin. Often such strong personalities conflict NOT because they truly hate each other but they are ALIKE more than either would care to acknowledge.

Besides, we CAN all LIKE both Al Frankin and Randi Rhodes without being drawn into their over-blown ego contests.

I have faith that they may BOTH someday, make amends.

In other words, Randi is going to like SENATOR Al Frankin much more than the domineering persona of "her former boss."

9. Randi's an ego "mirror mirror on the wall" maniac some times...
She seems too often to confuse strident, petty/egotisms with Lib/Pro mainstays; when those are just parts of the demographic/media format that brought her to where she is. Especially since her move, we've just been turning the dial que sera

10. Apparently not.
I hope she gets it out of her system and moves on. There are some serious things going on with the changes in our government happening with a new Congress and a new administration that she needs to dig into and put in simple terms. These are the things she is good at. If any of Randi's staff is reading this please, beg her to move on. Al Franken will be senator and she can't do anything about it, anymore than she could do anything about other politicians becoming senators that she doesn't like.

11. i listened to Randi since day 1 on AAR, even joined NovaM when she moved there, but
when she attacked Wes Clark a few months ago (the incident where he said that being shot down did not make McCain qualified for president or something to that effect), i finally quit listening and cancelled my NovaM membership. Clark was right, and Randi's attack was totally unwarranted. I am fiercely loyal to Clark, even when i disagree with him, and will not tolerate personal insults directed at him. So it was bye bye Randi!

12. I missed that one, but I agree it would have been uncalled for
I said all along that Clark was right. Being shot down isn't a prerequisite for being President. And Wes did say the appropriate good things about McSame being a POW and about serving his nation. However, I knew as soon as he said it that Clark was going to be crucified by the right. I didn't, however think he would be crucified by the left too.

14. She just had a caller asking her to cool it with the negativity about Franken.
Was that you? :)

Anyway, Randi claims that some scandals will come out eventually about Franken but she refused to say anything more.

the old " I hear things bit' from her is ever-so Hannity-esque.

If she knows something, lt's hear it. Other wise, she should grow up.

Funny how Al's toher co-workers (Seder, Bender, Maddow) seem thrilled that he's elected. Seder just said he'll be 'a force in the senate' after a term or two. I guess he didn't hear of the dasterdly scandal that co-workers are supposed to be aware of.

17. Very disappointing
I guess it would be a surprise if she knew something karl rove and norm coleman didnt...

i.e. not bloody likely
I am a big fan of hers but in the same way I am of Obama, I very well understand they are far from perfect and have as many if not more flaws than most of us...

She always talks over her guests. It's grating.
