So Reid is still waffling on seating Roland Burris
None of the issues he's raised are going to develop in any significant way that would discount Mr. Burris' appointment.

Waiting for Blago to be impeached before deciding is wrong. How many other of the governor's actions during this period will be held up for reversal, other than this one appointment?

And, the issue of the lack of a signature from the Illinois SoS being against Senate rules is a joke from such an opportunistic body. It's not even required under Illinois law, at least that's what the SoS has said.

Hiding his equivocations behind 'procedure' is either a covering of ass by Reid or an outright sham. Reid knows what the outcome of these equivocations by him will be in the end. He should put it up for a vote immediately, if that is. in fact, what will be required to move this appointment forward.

1. despite the scandals and lies and blatant corruption, Reid has never shown concern like this
over BushCo.

He continues to give them whatever they want.

3. What amazes me about Reid...
the one time he actually takes a stand on an issue, he's dead wrong. Of all the fights to pick, he picks the wrong one. I just wish he would expend as much energy attacking Republicans as he does members of his own party.

4. It is out of his hands: it is up to the Illinois courts to decide
If the Secy of State is instructed to sign the appointment, he will, and then the Senate can seat him. Until that time, the credentials are, indeed, not in order. I expect it will all happen soon.

If you want to get mad at someone, don't get mad at Reid. It was the Democrats in the Illinois legislature, who were too chicken and selfish to prevent Blagojevich (whom they hate) from making an appointing by scheduling a special election. If they had, none of this would have happened.

7. Reid orchestrated this from his first statements against Burris' selection
He doesn't have clean hands and he's made a circus of this with his deliberate(?) mismanagement. The signature and 'procedures' were just excuses and stalls, hoping the appointment was somehow derailed in the interim.

8. Correct, RW hate radio has this already framed as Reid's fault and here's DU...
stepping right into it cause of their hate for Reid. There's a blank line on Burris' docs, there's nothing there, not even a smudge. Nothing. No one in Illinois wants to sign that piece of paper cause it's radio active. And that's somehow all Reid's fault. Congratulations DU! For falling for all things RW from bush's froggy DOJ operatives down to Harry Reid being a racist

10. It's also typical to see conflating of opinions with something republicans have said

. . . instead of just relying on an argument alone.

By the way, the Illinois SoS admitted that his action was political 'to make a statement'. He doesn't even think his signature is required under Illinois law. MSNBC reported Jesse White expressed concern that Reid and Durbin are making him look responsible when he feels it's actually their own obstruction of Burris which is causing the delay.

11. That's irresponsible, and a small wonder America is as screwed up as it is...

Illinois SoS, Jesse White, should work to have that little line that requires a signature removed from such an important state document of the state for which he works. White may not think he needs to sign it, he may for that matter have a false impression of what public service is for all I know; I'm sure he makes people sign the papers that are important to his family's personal well being, eh you what...

Maybe it doesn't matter after all, it's only PE Obama's vacated and now tainted former Illinois senate seat. The RW knows they have Dems on their forever, "I was against it before I was for it" gibberish, too wishy washy and they know it. It may be time for White to stand up. If that's what he wants to do.

6. Reid is an utter and complete failure. The Democrats raced to attack their own, yet left the Junta
-- that continues to murder by the hundred-thousand -- protected and in place.

Reid and Pelosi have failed in unprecedented ways.

9. So now, 'tradition' trumps the law. Reid needs to stop the
charade and 'let it go.' Jesse White should be ashamed of himself. What can he possibly hope to gain from obstructing the appointment of a man who is clearly qualified to be seated? These are the kinds of 'clouds' that always loom over minority leadership and constituency. I, personally, find little blame with Reid. White could have stopped these theatrics with the stroke of a pen. Utterly disgusting.
