Legacy? The one quote that reveals all you will ever need to know concerning George W. Bush
It occurred in an interview with Peggy Noonan for the Ladies Home Journal in 2003 and it is in reference to 9/11/01

"But the day ended on a relatively humorous note."

Bush Jaw-Dropper: 9/11/01 "Ended on a Realtively Humorous Note"

Peter Daou June 1, 2006

skip. (The following text is excerpted from an interview of the Bushes with Peggy Noonan in the Ladies Home Journal)

President Bush: But the day ended on a relatively humorous note. The agents said, "You'll be sleeping downstairs. Washington's still a dangerous place." And I said no, I can't sleep down there, the bed didn't look comfortable. I was really tired, Laura was tired, we like our own bed. We like our own routine. You know, kind of a nester. Like the way things are. I knew I had to deal with the issue the next day and provide strength and comfort to the country, and so I needed rest in order to be mentally prepared. So I told the agent we're going upstairs, and he reluctantly said okay. Laura wears contacts, and she was sound asleep. Barney was there. And the agent comes running up and says, "We're under attack. We need you downstairs," and so there we go. I'm in my running shorts and my T-shirt, and I'm barefooted. Got the dog in one hand, Laura had a cat, I'm holding Laura --

Mrs. Bush: I don't have my contacts in, and I'm in my fuzzy house slippers --

President Bush: And this guy's out of breath, and we're heading straight down to the basement because there's an incoming unidentified airplane, which is coming toward the White House. Then the guy says it's a friendly airplane. And we hustle all the way back upstairs and go to bed.

Mrs. Bush: And we just lay there thinking about the way we must have looked.

Noonan: So the day starts in tragedy and ends in Marx Brothers.

President Bush: That's right -- we got a laugh out of it."

yep, I'm sure that he had many, many a hearty chuckle at the expense of others over the last eight years.

Definitely an ass...
Has anyone heard about his new home Bush bought in Dallas? I heard through the grapevine that the CC&R's have a clause that says no colored people. What does that say about our leader for the last 8 years... sheesh!

5. Not any more,
but it was one of the last holdouts to have such restrictive clauses. I'm sure the "tradition" of no blacks is still honored in an informal way.

The latest is that our taxpayer dollars will go to build a gate to keep the riff-raff out of the neighborhood. Apparently, his old man did the same thing when he was retired to Texas.

They just can't get enough out of the treasury, can they?

8. I'm surprised that's ALL they are building off our taxpayer dollars!
They've pillaged and raped our economy... why not go a little further?

:sarcasm:

6. What do you expect from a man raised by Barbara Bush......
"The refugees in Houston, Texas, were "underprivileged anyway" and life in the Astrodome sports arena is "working very well for them", former first lady Barbara Bush said in a radio interview."

Detached, Arrogant, Uber-Rich Scum.

7. Egocentric, self-obsessed phonies, both of them....
Laura's the Queen Of The Enablers. This article has the whole "Isn't he adorable?" stench to it.

Someone ought to have Peggy Noonan put to sleep. She keeps sucking Republican presidential ass like she does, she's gonna choke to death.

Come to think of it, that wouldn't be a bad thing....................

10. I have to admit that one is on a par with the one I posted.
The "humorous" end to 9/11 which is entirely self-absorbed and is like stories people tell about when their dog sets off the burglar alarm - "So there was Edna with her nightgown on backwards and I was in my undies waving a broom - you should have seen it!I still chuckle when I think about it."

"Money trumps peace" - said at a press conference and not, as one might speculate, at a poker game with Cheney and Jimmy Carter.

Both quotes are indicative of a general disconnect with what some would call "humanity".

12. The kind of person who can see a "humorous" end to the day on 9/11
is certainly capable of thinking that they personally had a pretty good year for the entirety of 2001.

It is literally mind-boggling to anyone else.

A BUZZFLASH EDITORIAL

In May, Bush and the GOP started selling a three-photo collection of Bush's first year in office, which included a photo of "a telephone call from Air Force One to Vice President Cheney the afternoon of September 11."
