How much would you sacrifice to end the occupation in Iraq?
Currently, in the US, the military and their loved ones are the only people making sacrifices for this "war" in Iraq. Many of us at DU are not in the military and we don't have loved ones involved in this war; we feel empathy towards those directly affected by the occupation, and deep anger at the Bush administration -- but we are not making any real sacrifices.

So, how far would you go to take action?

Please read "Taxation without Representation" ( http://tinyurl.com/2n9msg ).
She asked:
I urge every American with a heart, compassion, and a sense for justice and a return to moral based leadership to join me in withholding our money from this murderous and callous government.

I can't do it. Cindy, you challenged me to make a sacrifice, and I've let you down. I'm so sorry. I have my reasons for it, but I suspect it would not have stopped you from going ahead with this peaceful act of civil disobedience. Moments like this are a test of our true mettle: I don't have the strength.

What about you? Would you withhold part or all your taxes to protest this war and risk the consequences?

1. If I knew for sure there were thousands like me doing the same
You betchum, Red Rider!

They can't arrest us all!

Oh, wait... they have all those Halliburtion detention facilities just waiting for human suffering...

I'll think about it. Hard. I really want to...

2. I've marched but
do you remember the Catonsville 9 during the Vietnam war? I guess people these days including myself are a bit apathetic?

3. I'd sacrifice...
all of the Repugs who still think the war is a good idea. If I *absolutely* had to, I could probably even be convinced to make them blood sacrifices.

4. They say you need to pick your battles
and this particular battle is one I am going to have to let others fight. But in a rather oblique answer to your question, I would sacrifice quite a bit, and do, to fight the ones I've chosen.

Blessed are the peacemakers.
