Guess why Congress poll numbers are so bad: . .Republicans
http://crooksandliars.com/node/25047

We've heard and seen many news reports about how unpopular Congress is with the American people. And it is at an all time low, but what most TV analysts are refusing to point out is that it's the Republicans in Congress that are dragging down the approval rating. As a new Gallup poll shows us--Republicans in Congress Less Popular Than Bush:

As Gallup showed last month, congressional Democrats are significantly more esteemed than Bush-- and significantly more esteemed than their Republican colleagues in Congress. According to the latest Gallup Poll, 67% of Americans disapprove of Bush, while 69% disapprove of Republicans in the House and Senate and only 55% disapprove of Democrats in the House and Senate.

I've talked to some of our Blue America candidates and they told me that since '06, the Republicans did everything they could to block and obstruct the daily business of the Congress in hopes that America would have a bad opinion of the House and Senate and it would lead to them retaking or making big gains in '08 and 2010.

The 25% approval rating for the Republicans in Congress establishes a new Gallup Poll low, surpassing the 26% measured about this time last year. Gallup first began asking about approval of the Congressional parties in 1999.

I've known this all along.. you've known this all along.. but DAMN it's nice to see it in print. Now if only the TV box would mention it when they quote that "unpopular Congress" statistic!

That's because the blow-dry, bent-knee, ass-kissing corps of corporate news readers is bought and paid for by republicon CashMoneyBucks...

2. that, and...
The Democrats refusal to impose justice against the Bush administration.

Well, that's my reason, anyway.

3. I also blame the ball-less dems
They stand-up - then sit down and apologize

Yes, repubs have been obstructing, but the dems are letting them get away with it. How many times have we hit the refresh button on a "breaking story" about dems holding some repub in contempt, or issuing a subpeona only to find the dems backing off?

How many times have we heard the excuse "...don't have the votes..."?

4. Basically, less than 50% supports
anything the top leaders (and elected officials) of the country do. That's just plain sad.

5. Sorry, but we've got plenty on our side who are worthless - worse than
worthless actually, they'd be better off sitting there mute and "No Vote" than ignoring all the problems we sent them there to fix while doing all the corporate bidding they get campaign contributions to do.

And then they have the nerve to talk about the "fringe" element of the party being out of touch with the mainstream - who the hell do they think got them elected in the first place? The Republicans they're always playing "sorry sir, won't happen again"?

6. no quarrel there... but the fact remains that the outrage at Congress
in general is that it doesn't get anything done.. and that is mostly because of the roadblock republicans and their magic filibuster power... Which I'll admit would evaporate if they were ever called to, you know, actually filibuster

8. Yep - you can't pin it all on the Republicans
The Democratic Congress has given the President things he couldn't get with a Republican controlled congress. That there should tell you what you need to know.

7. They Showed It With The Ultimate Poll...
Last November's election. Rarely does a party lose as many seats in two successive cycles as the GOOP did. And to think they had a large majority and absolute control following the 2004 election...their corruption and ineptness did them in.

What's amusing is that of the remaining GOOPers, many are of the extremist elements that caused their party to crater and they still haven't gotten the clue. They're gonna try to obstruct the new Administration and further detach themselves from the electorate.

Yesterday, the House repugnicans got their heads handed to them...they are severly limited in the "motion to recommit" that delays the movement of legislation and they're forced to compromise or be shut out altogether.
