Hamas has set up an independent hospital in the Gaza Strip to treat its operatives wounded in fighting with the IDF - and, according to Israeli estimates, it is pilfering a significant portion of the medicine allowed into the Strip, senior defense officials told The Jerusalem Post on Monday.

Despite this estimate, the Defense Ministry said Monday that it would continue facilitating the transfer of food and medical supplies into Gaza. The humanitarian convoys, defense officials said, played a key role in garnering international legitimacy for the IDF's operations in Gaza since it showed the world that Israel distinguished between Hamas terrorists and Palestinian civilians.

That looked like fire-bombing but I was not sure. I read through other threads and althugh there were a few rather lame attempts to claim they were intended only to provide illumination or somehow defeat heat-seeking missiles, as if there were any, it seems pretty clear that that was what they were. Thank you for your help.

there is no way they are using wp for illumination...those 155mm sp's they keep showing on news reports are supplied with a very effective illumination round...as a forward observer for a 155 battery, I saw their effectiveness many times.

I suspect the wp actually is for smoke, but you can't avoid the fires wp produces, nor the horrific nature of the wounds; the stuff can't be quenched without completely denying it of any oxygen, a difficult task, at best.

This whole operation sucks tremendously.
