Winter Wonderland: Germany Sinks into Spectacular Deep Freeze

Temperatures in Germany fell as low as minus 25 degrees Celsius on Monday night and the weather is expected to remain Arctic for several days. The country is covered in a spectacular sheet of snow and ice. Commuters are complaining, but Berlin Zoo's polar bear Knut is having a whale of a time.

1. Ah, I don't miss Germany's winter weather.
It's far enough north that it got dark really early and felt like living at the north pole. When winter storms hit, the roads were covered with glaze ice, which make it hard to walk without falling on your ass, much less drive. There was always frozen mist or other moisture in the air, so it felt bone-chilling cold out all the time.

Nope, don't miss it at all.

6. Winter in Germany=rain, as I remember it.
Then again, every other season in Germany=rain, too. ;) So this is unusual.

7. -25C is equal to -13F
Just for reference. I'm in upstate NY and it does at times get that cold or colder.
