Entertainment news... NEW Jason and the Argonauts series buzz

Marta and I had the pleasure to look at the story boards. We also saw the demo (less special effects) pitch. If it gets a green light, this will be a high budget quality fantasy. More news as it happens. SSSHHHH. You didn't hear this from me. :-)

3. Any suggestion that it will bear ANY resemblance
to the actual story - or are they 'updating' it for 'modern audiences'?

6. Unknown, but speaking of Harryhausen....

We only saw a short video. We didn't see the script.

When Forry Ackerman past away, our friend film historian Bruce Crawford was staying at Ray Harryhausen's. Bruce has been there several times.

Crawford is interviewed by BBC while in London

Omaha film historian Bruce Crawford has just returned from the London home of special-effects creator Ray Harryhausen, where they both were interviewed for the BBC about the death of science-fiction expert Forrest Ackerman.

Ackerman came to Omaha for Crawford's screenings of "King Kong" and "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea."

While at Harryhausen's palatial home in Kensington, Crawford lunched with Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. He also talked with Fergus McClelland, child star of the classic film "A Boy Ten Feet Tall."

Crawford said Harryhausen has just released a new book, "A Century of Stop Motion Animation." The BBC recently rebroadcast Crawford's documentary about movie composer Bernard Herrmann.

While in London, Crawford also was interviewed by British author Mike Hankin, who is writing a book series about Harryhausen's films, "Master of the Majicks." The first was recently published.

4. Movies or TV?
And if it's TV - SciFi network? They are so overdue for another gangbuster original.

5. The original soundtrack by Bernard Herrmann
was incredible. I'm not a classical music aficionado, but I loved those ole Herrmann soundtracks on London back in the day.

7. Bernard Herrmann

Bernard Herrmann got Bruce's career in film history started. Behind Bruce in the photo is an original art work from Ben Hur given to him by Richard D. Zanuck.

Bruce Crawford is a film historian, documentary producer and promoter and organizer of film tributes here in Omaha, Nebraska. He also is a writer, lecturer and entrepreneur. It is his love of the great film scores that first garnered him national attention. Bruce has produced two nationally and internationally broadcast radio documentaries on film composers Bernard Herrmann and Miklos Rozsa. Bernard Herrmann: A Celebration of His Life and Music is a salute to the composer of scores to such films as CITIZEN KANE, PSYCHO, TAXI DRIVER, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, VERTIGO, NORTH BY NORTHWEST,THE GHOST AND MRS.MUIR, MYSTERIOUS ISLAND, OBSESSION, FAHRENHEIT 451 and THE TWILIGHT ZONE (TV Series). Running at 2 1/2 hours, in 1992 it was first broadcast nationally, and has since become a milestone in the works honoring Herrmann.
