I don't have an essay this time. I just wanted to say that.

1. Molly Ivins almost got me killed
She told an extremely off-color joke in a Baptist Chapel.

The punchline was: You just passed a law that says a prick can't touch an asshole.

I'm not a religious man but I was ready for God to send a thunderbolt.

Boy do I miss her.

anti-gay law.

Two wingnut Texas politicians had pushed hard to get through legislation making homosexuality illegal. When it passed the two shook hands.

Molly's commentary, printed in "Mother Jones" magazine which permits obscenity, was that "In shaking hands, they broke the law they had just passed which stated that a prick couldn't touch an asshole."

(She reprinted this article in her book "Molly Ivins Can't Say That, Can She?")

On edit: And, boy, do I miss her too. The world just isn't the same without her.

over some Obama choices but she would have been thrilled about Obama and she would have said so loudly- much to the consternation of DU reactionaries who would be howling endlessly about how Molly was a complicit sell out asshole.

8. She'd be banging the pots and pans...
She'd be banging the pots and pans. Wondering where the hell our table went. And the only ones who would be calling her a complicit sell asshole would be those who like the table just fine.

9. I fear she would have advised people to vote for Nader in states "where it didn't count" again
Edited on Sat Jan-03-09 09:27 AM by NNN0LHI
And Obama would have lost states like Indiana and others and the win would not have been decisive. We would still be counting votes right now until the Supreme Court stepped in again and handed it to McCain.
