So much damage to repair: So many lives on the edge: So many fools who still don't "get it:" So much of the world that still hates us for our crimes.
Eighteen days from today, Barack Obama will take office as the 44th President of the United States.
I would argue that no president in our history has ever had to clean up the mess that Bush and his fellow thugs have left behind. (I would also argue that any president who ever came close to what Bush&Co have done would have been met by impeachment, removal from office, a criminal trial and life in prison.)
I know that from day one, Barack will be criticized by the left and demonized by the right. Which leaves me with one question. What have we become?
Herbert Hoover left us in a pit of shit in 1932. It took FDR 12 years and WWII to pull us out of it.
It's time for us to help pull ourselves out of the mountain of shit they've intentionally buried us under, and, starting January 20th, feed them their own shit and start building a new and better world. Put another way, Barack is going to need all the support he can get from us.
It won't be easy. It wasn't easy for FDR or "The Greatest Generation." But keep this in mind. There was no such thing as the "American middle class" until 1946. Americans earned it and FDR made it happen.
Ever since then, the GOP has done everything in their power to destroy us. It looks like they've succeeded, for now. The future is up to us.
