3. She said it to a heckler, not to Cooper.
I think she thought they weren't still on camera.

27. It's a formula that all stand ups use at some point.
"I don't go to your job and __________.'

They looked like they were having fun which is more than I can say about most shows in that format. :)

4. Technically, it looked like an audio fuckup by the CNN people.
Edited on Thu Jan-01-09 01:33 AM by Jamastiene
They had gone off camera when she said it. It will be interesting to see how fast the FCC goes after her when it looks like it wasn't even her fault that it got on air.

5. I LOVE her
That's tame compared to her standup act. :woohoo:

CNN will have her back; the ratings must have gone through the roof.

She has been on with AC for a couple of years now. She was trying to grope him when I was watching. I'm sure there's plenty of up and coming female comedians that would love to host with AC. Maybe he'll choose someone else for the next New Years show.

12. It was a JOKE
Edited on Thu Jan-01-09 03:57 AM by JulieRB
>She was trying to grope him when I was watching.

She wasn't serious.

She's brought in because last year's show gave huge ratings, and I'm sure tonight's did as well.

I don't think there are any "up and coming" comediennes that could give and take as well as Kathy Griffin does on live TV. Perhaps he could bring in Lisa Lampanelli or Sarah Silverman, huh? You'd be begging her to return.

Anderson Cooper is a great foil for her comedy, with a sly sense of humor. He gave it right back to her.

As I said, personally I don't find her funny. I watched very little of it and only caught the part around midnight in Time Square. Being 14 hours ahead, it was mid-afternoon here.

15. Oh, no!
I hope she won't be banned from CNN :( That's one of the few places left that still lets her come on!

I love her. You either get her, or you don't. She's great. I can't believe so many of the talk shows ban her. Who doesn't talk crap about Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears? Really now.

I actually ended up watching her comedy specials on Bravo last night, rather than the New Years thing.

Anyone know if they are going to do another season of My Life on the D-List?

Well...in addition to their New Years thing.

Can you imagine a CNN Morning Show with those two? Ratings bonanza!

19. Apparently the sound man had last night off
I couldn't even hear half of that...the "screw you buddy, I don't go to your job and knock the dicks out of your mouth" part I heard, but not much else.

As far as finding her funny...I don't, but I don't find most of the comedians of the last 20 or so years funny. Comedy kinda died when they started trying not to offend anyone.

25. I Loved Griffin and Cooper and Hope They Will be Back Next Year
I listened to CNN for New Year's, and heard the remark. It was NOT said to Anderson Cooper, which would have made no sense; they liked each other, had a lot of fun, and joked around constantly. They were both very wiity and funny, and it was great listening to them.

The remark happened very late, it was like almost 1 AM Eastern time, and one drunken male below the large platform they were standing on, had been heckling Griffin constantly, saying, "you suck," etc., for hours, amongst a huge crowd that was cheering and friendly. She was getting angrier and fed up for a while before the incident, and when she finally had enough, Anderson Cooper told her again to just try to ignore it. Then, theme music or whatever it was came on, the camera started to move the picture, and they must have thought they were off, for commercial. She turned to the area where the abusive drunk heckler was, said a few things like, "Shut up! At least I have a job," and then the line about "I'll get the dicks outta your mouth," or "get the dicks out of your mouth," however it was exactly put. She had had enough, and actually, I think Security might have removed the prick after that, because it seemed quieter, and she was not stressed with this one particular location just under and beside the platform anymore. I thought they were great, and I really like Anderson Cooper, who actually likes and talks well with women. Wonderful show.
