New tack on energy: Weatherization
produces more jobs, benefits per dollar than just
heating assistance money.

article points out that it is the energy companies who lobby aggressively for
"assistance to the poor" for energy bills-which of course end up being
a subsidy to oil companies.

1. They did this in Oregon in the 70's and
The local power companies (EWEB in Eugene) paid to insulate your house - it was an effort to NOT buy in to the Trojan Nuke Plant
