2. Mucifer posted this downstream.
"Are governors responsible for their own predicament? To some extent. Arnold Schwarzenegger, in particular, deserves some jeers. He became governor in the first place because voters were outraged over his predecessor’s budget problems, but he did nothing to secure the state’s fiscal future — and he now faces a projected budget deficit bigger than the one that did in Gray Davis."

From a paul Krugman editorial posted by mucifer. It says a lot.

4. he vetoed a budget that Democrats managed to pass
put someone in that will sign a passable and workable budget.

of course Democrats here would actually have to do that. they won't.

they don't know how to take it to him, hell, part of the reason they don't know how to take it to him is that they never f*cking try.

i mean, in a state where Obama got 61%, where Dems hold 60% of leglislative seats, is there any point to this if they can't strike some fear into a Republican?

what is with this party and it's timidity?

8. they play the game okay
but they haven't figured out how to play the "talk".

Republicans can't play that well but they talk smack like nobody's business. That's worth about 10% more seats than otherwise. Not doing it back means Democrats are playing less than full strength.

That said, you can be nice about it. You just need to make Republicans own their positions, own their votes. They should have been all over the media after the big 3 bailout failed and regardless of whether it was a good idea or lost fairly, they should have been saying:

Republicans vote to cut wages. They want to vote your wages down. Or at least name the Republicans that did. Make them own that crap. But did we? Hell no. :wtf:

9. Because we are broke, and there are no "stand-out" dems
that even seem remotely interested in becoming governor.. I've heard DiFi's name mentioned, but she would not be much better than Ahhhnold, and she's getting pretty old..

and

in a recall, we would have another freak show with everyone showing up on the ballot.. remember? we had about 160 names on the last recall ballot.. that's HOw Ahhhhnold snuck in...that and a shitload of money, after Cheney's pals stuck the shiv into Crybaby Issa's back...

10. Because they could do worse
I think anyone here could name five Republican governors who are worse than Arnold is--Sarah Palin, Goodhair Perry, Charlie Crist, Sonny Perdue and Haley Barbour spring instantly to mind.

Arnold sucks as a governor, but they could do a hell of a lot worse. Imagine Governor Issa!

13. Good damned question
Afterall, he DID come to office by ousting the previous governor over the bad California economics.

He's given the republican free pass, like bush has enjoyed.
