Anti-worker effort is steeped in lies

It is apparent that an upcoming fight for the literal survival of workers to have the right to organize is coming from the Chamber of Commerce across our great nation and state. What is most disturbing about this fight is not that there are opposing viewpoints but rather a campaign that is steeped in outright lies and deception to the general public.

The Employee Free Choice Act is an addition to the National Labor Relations Act from 1935 that will allow a majority of workers to sign an authorization petition, developed by the government, to form a union and still have a right to an election, if the workers so choose. Corporate interests from across the country are amassing their financial resources in order to demonize what is the foundation of our country: The majority decides what happens, which is democracy of the people, by the people and for the people, not the corporate interest.

Workers in our country desire to be part of a movement that increases hourly pay by an average of 30 percent and fights for health insurance and good pensions. Economic recovery can only be achieved through a strengthened middle class, which unions helped establish in the 20th century, continue to fight for today and will in the future.

Let’s not, once again, be buffaloed into believing that corporations are looking out for our best interests. By encouraging support for the Employee Free Choice Act, we will be sending a signal to corporate America that everyday workers built the house they live in and it is time for our due recognition through unions of our own choice.

2. The bailout of the banks with no assistance to the homeowners
who are being left homeless should be the only reminder that corporate interest are not looking out for the working families in this country. Time to give back to the individual workers, and let them have representation too.

4. ALL conservative struggles are a pack of lies
Anti-worker, anti-civil rights, anti-environment, you name it. Every effort to curtail basic human rights is based on a pack of lies.
