Israel's elections are coming up in February.
Israel's government engages in preemptive strike against Gaza in what the Financial Times has described as a new "shock and awe" campaign.

Of course, this is just a coincidence, right? No one would ever use military action to drum up support for an upcoming election...

4. Not at all a coincidence

Ehud Barak has regularly used military aggressions (usually against Lebanon in his case) as a plank in his election programme.

And this thread will be promptly nuked in 5...4...3...2.........

5. Yes Israel overreacted
But I guess the morters and rockets killing citizens is nothing to worry about. I do not think this was preemptive. Try reactive, just much over than was required.

I just don't trust governments in general these days.

8. You're right
But you'll be attacked for saying that, anyway. There's a loon wing on DU that loves to paint Israel as utterly evil and refuses to treat as a serious matter the rockets fired into Israel.
