Ahmedinejad's Christmas Message on UK's Channel4 TV
... If Christ were on earth today, undoubtedly he would stand with the people in opposition to bullying, ill-tempered and expansionist powers. If Christ were on earth today, undoubtedly he would hoist the banner of justice and love for humanity to oppose warmongers, occupiers, terrorists and bullies the world over.

If Christ were on earth today, undoubtedly he would fight against the tyrannical policies of prevailing global, economic and political systems as he did in his lifetime. The solution to today's problems is a return to the call of divine prophets. The solution to these crises is to follow the prophets--they were sent by the Almighty for the good of humanity.

Today the general will of nations is calling for fundamental change. This is now taking place. Demands for change, clamoring for transformation, urgently calling for a return to human values are fast becoming the foremost commands of the nations of the world. The response to these demands must be genuine. The prerequisite to this change is a change in goals, intentions and directions. If tyrannical goals are rearranged in an attractive and deceptive package and imposed on nations again, conscious people will stand up against them.

Fortunately, today, as crises and despair multiply, a wave of hope is gathering momentum. Hope for a brighter future, and for the establishment of justice. Hope for real peace, hope for finding virtuous and pious rulers who love the people and want to serve them and this is what the Almighty has promised.

Posted for the record and without comment from me... Those who haven't had an easy opportunity to read it may also be interested in Ahmadinejad's 2006 letter to Bush, here.

Peace.

1. you say you posted this without comment.
the question is, why did you post it at all? It'll be interesting to see what kind of a response his remarks get here.

2. The Ahmadinejad speech is news worth reporting; but why use that site for it?
Edited on Fri Dec-26-08 04:53 AM by LeftishBrit
WakeUpFromYourSlumber is a disgusting hate-site. Why not, for example, go directly to the Channel 4 website? (www.channel4.com)

In fact, most of the speech is fairly waffly and non-controversial like most Christmas messages. But where he has a message, it is a defence of theocracy: the world is suffering because its rulers don't 'follow the Prophets'. Errr, no, it's suffering a lot more because its rulers follow their Prophets and their Gods altogether too much - and expect their Prophets and Gods to follow them. "My God can beat up your God! BANG!"

4. whoa. that site is indeed nothing but a hate site
What does it say when a DU poster links to such a site? I think it says more than enough. Imagine if someone here linked to a site filled with hate against the GLBT community or the AA community? People here would be rightfully outraged.

There's no excuse for showcasing this kind of full tilt hate and bigotry here.

5. That site is indeed horrible, now I look at it. I failed to find the full transcript

at the Channel4 site, so used this, which came up in google. For which I now apologise.

I used Channel4's title, slightly edited. I don't think it's useful to censor this news story, though. I think it's useful to see something of how this man's mind works.

edit: Hell, now I've found it at Channel4 here. It's too late to edit the OP. So please ignore the first link above.

For me, some of what is called anti-Zionism (referring to particular political policies) appears reasonable. Anything anti-Semitic, however, is simply pathetic and disgusting.

3. Why didn't you post the title?
"Ahmedinejad Drives a Stake into Zionist War Monger's hearts with his Christmas Message"

That is a hate-filled site, mostly anti-Semitic, so I know that is why it is glossed over by some.

7. The way I see it, Iranian leaders, who are more-or-less democratically-elected,

could be a lot more reasonable and become more progressive, reflecting majorities in their own society, were they able to not feel so threatened from the outside.

Let's hope both Obama's and Ahmedinejad's people will be allowed to practise some real diplomacy and make it work both ways.

8. bush created Ahmedinejad when he named Iran part of the Axis of Evil.
Iran was coming out of its theocratic ways, becoming more moderate. They were even helping us in the hunt for bin Laden. I guess a moderate Iran wasn't something bush needed. The bush junta knows that a country threatened by an outside force tends to turn right politically. It happened here, didn't it?
