Mystery man gives out gift cards at Target
Mystery man gives out gift cards at Target

BETHEL -- Who was that man in the Santa cap?

"He handed me a gift card," Sandy Ho of New Milford said of the man who gave her a $20 gift card Monday afternoon at the Target store on Stony Hill Road.

...

Santa also surprised Target store manager Paul Sarich.

"We heard about him, but I didn't see him," he said. "We tried to track him down," but the man left before store personnel could talk with him.

Sarich wanted to make sure the man wasn't trying to promote something.

"My first instinct was 'What's the story with this? Maybe he's soliciting,'" Sarich said. "But it sounded legitimate."

...

A secret Santa at a Wal-Mart Supercenter in Lisbon, Conn., met with a vastly different reaction over the weekend.

Barry Goldberg, according to an Eyewitness News 3 broadcast, said he was told to leave the Wal-Mart store when he handed out $10 gift cards to customers.

4. Good job, Target!
From the linked article:
Goldberg told Eyewitness News that Target got in touch with him and said he could exchange the Wal-Mart cards for Target cards and give them out at a Target store.
