Pope angers campaigners with speech seen as attack on homosexuality
Preservation of man no less important than tropical rainforests, says pontiff

Gay rights groups and activists yesterday condemned passages in Pope Benedict XVI's end-of-year address in which the pontiff spoke about gender and the important distinction between men and women.

Speaking to the Curia, the Vatican's central administration, the pope said that the church viewed the distinction as central to human nature, and "asks that this order, set down by creation, be respected". The church, he said, "should protect man from the destruction of himself". He said a sort of ecology of man was needed, adding: "The tropical forests do deserve our protection; but man, as a creature, does not deserve any less." He attacked what he described as "gender" theories which "lead towards the self-emancipation of man from creation and the creator".

Father Federico Lombardi, a Vatican spokesman, claimed the pope had not wished specifically to attack homosexuality, and had not mentioned gays or lesbians in his text. Nevertheless, the speech provoked anger from campaigners, who interpreted the remarks as a papal call to save mankind from homosexuals and transsexuals.

"What keeps the pope awake at night is the idea that human beings might be able to seek out their own sexual identity to have a happy life," said Franco Grillini, of the Italian association Gaynet. "The speech has no scientific basis," said Aurelio Mancuso, head of Arcigay. "A divine programme for men and women is out of line with nature, where the roles are not so clear."

Although Catholic doctrine is that homosexuality is not a sin, the church does condemn homosexual acts and the former Joseph Ratzinger stated in 1986 before he became pope that homosexuality "is a more or less strong tendency ordered toward an intrinsic moral evil; and thus the inclination itself must be seen as an objective disorder". .......(more)

There is a concerted effort between the Vatican and the Mormons to declare war on GLBT persons. This is not just an isolated incident.

4. Pope Precious of Prada is so obviously gay. His brother said he was not fit to be Pope.

Now, what would a man be born with that would disqualify him (in the eyes of another German old fart) from being Pope? You can change if you were just a bastard or a murderer or a Nazi or even an SOB. But if you are born gay you are always gay even if you repress it. And a guy's brother would know even if he was able to hide it from the rest of the world.

Those repressed homosexuals are the worst when it comes to persecuting other people. And the Catholoc Church has such a racket going. Tell gays they are going to Hell---then quietly recruit all the gays to be nuns and priests. That way, families who would be shamed by their gay children are proud of their clergy children instead. So, you get a whole fraternity of gay clergy telling the laity how sinful it is to be gay--unless you are in the Vatican wearing a pretty frock.

In the good old days, a bunch of religions had gays for priests and priestesses. That was a natural function in many ancient civilizations. People who were not going to be tied up raising kids raised the society instead. We are so messed up now. We still tolerate gay clergy--and since the Age of Reason, gay artists, since art has replaced God for a lot of people---but you can not be gay and do anything else.

5. Ok, I don't know about you

but it seems to me that those who are supposedly continuing the work of Jesus might look around and see more pressing things to address than the sex lives of consenting adults.

Maybe his favorite bible story is that of poor Onan in Genesis I believe. He "wasted his seed" so bible-god whacked him on the spot.
