Freeper talking points on the DU Economics Board.
Edited on Sat Dec-20-08 11:25 PM by Elwood P Dowd
This is almost word for word what I heard on one of my rare visits to Fox News recently. Where are our mods tonight?

"By the time some other person has "stolen" my job I will have gained enough experience, become more skilled or figured out what else I can do to get a better job. There's nothing that says someone owes you a job, particularly if your approach is to behave like you are more deserving than anyone else."

Go down to posts #26 - #31.

1. They are all over the boards tonight, especially the anti-UAW crowd
but that's not important, only certain issues are.

5. Taking Bets
How much will we bet that when the American economy goes right into the shitter that they'll blame us?

Listen up Freeper idiots, by saying that globalization - which really is a race to the bottom - is good, when your job goes away don't come talking to us. We're trying to make life better for you, and all you do is give us bullshit about our leaders being "un-American." There's nothing American about fucking over people to benefit yourself.

2. LOL
"I'm not a bootstrapper, but I do believe that only the owner of the boots can decide where the boots go."

4. "These boots are made for walking".
The boots we wear today while standing in the unemployment line were made in China. They're not doing much "walking".

8. Since life has blessed him with boots
he feels innately superior to everyone else, never realizing that boots with straps are not general issue at birth in the US.

An accident of birth quite often turns into a sense of entitlement.

Don't worry, though, Mr. Vastly Competent and Innately Superior will hit his own corporate expiration date soon enough.

Want to bet he hasn't saved enough to cope with the gap between being dumped out of a decent job and getting Social Security?

3. Yeah, let's destroy our working class, mobility and economy to lift another middle class.
Real smart economic plan there. People with MBAs are getting laid off. What do you tell them . . . that they didn't WORK HARD enough?

People like this still think we live in the Clinton job market, where mobility among workers and hiring was somewhat fruitful. This hasn't been the case in 8 years. The offshoring dream, like Friedman economics as a whole, has fallen flat on it's face, with the people that need the most paying the ultimate price.

Are those who are already rich.

People with MBAs getting laid off? Boo fucking hoo. Their kind are what is destroying the American economy in favor of a profit for the next quarter. See what its like for the rest of us, ya dickheads? Maybe now you bunch of morons will see things from our perspective.

7. In the 6 years I've been reading this board and 5 years as a member,
I have never understood why the mods continue to give these freeps a forum for their insane, pro-corporatist, anti-worker economic and trade policies. Some of these jerks have been here for years, and nothing is being done about it.

10. One of the reasons I have never been a mod in 7 years
I have no patience for bullshit. But here, bullshit is not always bullshit, if you get my drift.

9. My experience is that economists tend to be more conservative than
most people. Even if they may have liberal views on politics and cultural issues, they will lean towards free market fundamentalism when it comes to economics. I think it is because that is all that is taught in economics programs. All economics courses assume a free market system.

11. Dear God, now this is some silly-ass, off-the-chain bullshit here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=114x50562#51462

"I don't know what your strengths are, but, personally, if I had to start over, I'd go directly to McDonalds and learn the fast food business from the ground up.

They pay well and have bennies. There are practically no requirements."

:wtf:

12. One market under god...
Reading a book called One Market Under God by Thomas Frank.

Great book - mainly about the dot com but applies to the free market bullshit.

In a nutshell, the big coup is that the "free marketeers" were able to (via the culture wars) become the "populist" movement. Remember the 90's adds for all the dot coms? Remember all the business mags wacking off to all the "new entrepreneurs" ? The cool new money, the 60's hippie quotes for companies? E*Trade? Town halls, focus groups, blah blab.>>>>???

It was the MARKET that was freedom and democratic. And if you were against that market you were against god, country, and democracy - because the market was **everything** and we were "all in business now".

Anyone who disagreed was "an elite". An old school regulator that was standing in the way - an "authoritarian".

So now - the fat cat, crony capitalist machine is where "all the smart people" go. And you're a sucker if you work hard and want benefits...

I post George Carlin now:

They don’t want people who are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table and think about how badly they’re getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard 30 fuckin' years ago. They don’t want that. You know what they want? They want obedient workers . . . Obedient workers, people who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork.

And just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it, and now they’re coming for your Social Security money. They want your fuckin' retirement money.

They want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street, and you know something? They’ll get it . . . they’ll get it all from you sooner or later cause they own this fuckin' place. It’s a big club and you ain't in it.

You and I are not in The big club. By the way, it’s the same big club they use to beat you over the head with all day long when they tell you what to believe. All day long beating you over the head with their media telling you what to believe, what to think and what to buy. The table has tilted folks.

The game is rigged and nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care. Good honest hard-working people . . . white collar, blue collar it doesn’t matter what color shirt you have on. Good honest hard-working people continue, these are people of modest means . . . continue to elect these rich cocksuckers who don’t give a fuck about you.

They don’t give a fuck about you . . . they don’t give a fuck about you. They don’t care about you at all . . . at all . . . at all, and nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care. That’s what the owners count on. The fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white and blue dick that’s being jammed up their assholes everyday, because the owners of this country know the truth. It’s called the American Dream cause you have to be asleep to believe it . . .”
