Stanford Unviersity sues Allen Stanford
over the cricket tournaments.

<snip>
Stanford University has confirmed to Telegraph Sport that it has filed a law suit at a federal court in San Francisco claiming, among other things, that the Stanford tournaments infringe its trademark copyright.

It is the latest blow for Stanford, who said on Wednesday that he was “re-evaluating” his involvement in cricket after being dragged into a messy legal action between the West Indies board and Digicel.

If the university’s action is successful, it could force Stanford to change the name of his multi-million-dollar cricket tournaments or pay substantial damages. Aside from England’s annual $20 million matches in Antigua, the Texan also lends his name to the Stanford Quadrangular at Lord’s and the Stanford 2020 tournament in the Caribbean.

Those projects are subject to a review of his cricketing interests and Stanford is expected to decide next month whether to pull out of the sport.
---------------
A few weeks ago Venezuela raided Stanford's off shore bank accusing them of espionage.
It's getting ugly for Stanford.

1. The cricket guy's offshore accounts or the university's?
Given that Stanford The University is the home of the Hoover Institute(an instutution whose basic purpose is to prevent social change throughout the world), it wouldn't be surprising to me if it was them.

2. The cricket guy
He's an American from Texas (donated to Bush) - he lives in Antigua and controls the politics. I've been asking DUers for more info on him for ages. I also heard that he's lost millions trying to popularize the 20/20 version of the game in the US.
