4. Reminds me of the way he dissed those who worked for civil rights...
...women's rights, etc. in the 60s and 70s during the primaries ~ maybe he REALLY doesn't get it.

8. Not being engaged in the primaries once the actual liberals were silenced
by the corporate media and disinvited to run,

I don't really remember how Obama dissed civil rights people. Can you expound on that?

10. He made some negative comments about Hillary and her generation...
Edited on Sat Dec-20-08 12:07 AM by polichick
...that made me really wonder for a while. I felt he was disrespectful and didn't seem to understand or appreciate what others had done so that he could be where he was. Other posters here were upset too ~ especially boomers who were part of those movements. And his worshippers made excuses for him.

This Warren choice gives me that same sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.

12. I recall now.
Obama and his supporters went off on "boomers" and 60's activists. (Neglecting to note that Obama himself is a boomer.)

13. Yep. Who knows - maybe he's a self-hater...
...trashes his own generation, invites Warren to speak even after that night at Saddleback. He's so bright in many ways, but sometimes ya have to wonder.

3. Other - Obama goofed, big time, but still has a chance to revoke the invitation...
I will hold out hope that he does so before 1/20/09.

6. I have come to believe that he knew exactly what he was doing.
The only alternative explanation is that he's *really* stupid, and I don't think he is.

11. It's not possible that they didn't know what Warren is.
It's not possible that they didn't know the anger it would incite.

That leaves only the possibility that Obama and his handlers just don't really care what anyone to their left on civil liberties, women's rights, GLBT rights, reproductive rights or democracy (Warren is a dominionist) thinks. Very disheartening. Like you, the more I think about it, even when I'm trying to give the Obamans the benefit of the doubt, the worse it gets.

15. I wouldn't bet on it.
I heard him speak on this the other day and he didn't sound regretful or as if he was going to change his mind. I understand that he wants to be inclusive and "reach across the aisle," but there is a limit and I think he's reached it with this. By attempting to placate the RW, he's deeply offending the very groups who were his core supporters... :-(

Thanks for the pic you posted the other day. I now remember who this guy is, was making the rounds a couple of years ago with that former hostage who claimed she escaped after reading his book to her captor. It took me a minute, though, since he wasn't wearing the Hawaiian shirt. Publicity-seeking poser, IMO. Like Obama needs another one of those... :eyes:

19. He's reached so far across the aisle with his cabinet and staff picks and now this
that I'm beginning to wonder which side of the aisle he's really on.

It depresses me, since I was sure he was the right man for these difficult times... :-(

I cant envision any circumstances where he would come out publicly and say "Yeah, I didn't really think that one through"
