'The National Organization For Women, is horrified at Obama's placement of Rick Warren'
ALBANY, NY (12/19/2008; 1614)(readMedia)-- We at NOW-NYS are appalled at President-elect Obama's decision that the anti-choice, anti-gay, and anti-woman minister Rick Warren will deliver the invocation at the upcoming inauguration. Our phones are all ringing off the hook! Our members and supporters are outraged by Warren's self-righteous pronouncements about same-sex love being akin to incest and pedophilia. He has even gone so far as to compare women's reproductive rights to Nazism.

Of course the US Constitution guarantees the rights of all to practice their own religions. But with his political agenda, opposing and supporting specific pieces of legislation to remove rights from women and GLBT people, Warren goes far beyond practicing religion and well into theocracy. In short Warren spreads exactly the kind of malice and divisiveness that Obama's campaign pledged to overcome.

The National Organization For Women, is horrified at Obama's placement of Rick Warren in an all-important ceremony to launch this historic presidency. Warren is the antithesis of NOW's values. We earnestly hope the President-elect will reconsider this inflammatory and insulting action, and that it does not foreshadow other elements of his presidency.

4. Curious, what Democratic ideals DO you uphold? All you seem to do is piss on progressive groups
Seriously, what exactly is progressive about you?

9. So do you agree that by endorsing Obama, the Kennedys "gang raped" Hillary Clinton?
Just curious whether you're at all capable of recognizing fringe behavior.

Frankly, you don't have the standing to question my credentials. I'm the only one in this conversation whose support of Dems goes beyond the incredibly shallow level of "I'll support them as long as they NEVER do ANYTHING I disapprove of!" To look around at DU, you'd think half the people here were complete political neophytes, who've never gotten used to the fact that nothing worthwhile happens all at once.

13. Countdown to when they will be told to sit down and shut up.
I be glutton Warren never sat down and talked to his flock concerning the false prophet passages of the bible. But, hey, we can all hold hands now can't we? :sarcasm: (in case someone didn't get it)

18. Someone needs to explain Warren's beliefs to America.
Obviously, he believes things that most Americans find offensive.

Someone needs to explain Warren's bizarre, out-of-the-mainstream fringe agenda.

on the dais and pants him, thus displaying his "shortcomings." Now...there's a prank I could get behind, even if it meant spending 30 days in the pokey.

24. K and R!
I've been pissed about the slap in the face to the GLBT community by having Warren speak.

I suppose that us women will be told to sit down and shut up. I mentioned to my spouse two nights ago, that if all women and all of the GLBT community formed a different voting block en masse, we could more than shake things up a little bit. My spouse is a white male, and it is Dec., but he became more pale as he realized that I had a point.
