Warren: There are ABSOLUTELY NO FACTS to support that one is born gay. Gay akin to alcoholics.
I've heard it asked, "Isn't being homosexual something that a person is physically born with?" First of all, there are absolutely no facts to support this claim. From time to time studies have been reported in the news that seemed to indicate this, but every one of these studies has proven to be wrong. Secondly, even if some physical difference were discovered, it would be no excuse for sin. We know that some people can develop a stronger physical addiction to alcohol than others, but that's obviously no excuse for living an alcoholic lifestyle.

1. "It's not judgmental to say that what the Bible calls a sin is a sin, that's just telling the truth."
"Finally, a word about being judgmental. It's not judgmental to say that what the Bible calls a sin is a sin, that's just telling the truth."

Bull. Puckey.

10. Inherent in the false idea that orientation is a choice...
is, at least, an admission that gay sex must be an awful lot of fun (for people to be "choosing" it).

These people are amazing. Fucked up, incredible neurotics. Even if their choice nonsense were true - what the fuck business is it of theirs what consenting adults do?

14. In this, he clearly disagrees with Jesus. Matthew 19:12
8Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. 9I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery."

10The disciples said to him, "If this is the situation between a husband and wife, it is better not to marry."

11Jesus replied, "Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given. 12For some are eunuchs because they were born that way; others were made that way by men; and others have renounced marriagebecause of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.

15. seems like a good time to post this study

August 1996 Press Release

WASHINGTON -- Psychoanalytic theory holds that homophobia -- the fear, anxiety, anger, discomfort and aversion that some ostensibly heterosexual people hold for gay individuals -- is the result of repressed homosexual urges that the person is either unaware of or denies. A study appearing in the August 1996 issue of the Journal of Abnormal Psychology, published by the American Psychological Association (APA), provides new empirical evidence that is consistent with that theory.

17. Odious
So, Rick -- Can I call you Rick? -- when did you "choose" to be straight? That is, if you are straight? You are straight, aren't you? And have proved that to the satisfaction of the executive board of your church? Anyway, back to the original query (no pun intended): When did you "choose" to be straight? Did you "choose" to be straight again this morning? Why or why not? And since you seem persuaded that this is a malleable choice that can be opted for or opted against, what steps are you taking to make sure that you don't make another "choice" tomorrow? Will you agree to resign immediately if you "choose" differently?

21. This response doesn't work for me.
He will simply say that one chooses vice, but one does not need to choose virtue. Gays choose bad behavior, but he and the "normals" don't have to choose.

Or, when did the alcoholic decide to be an alcoholic? Likely unanswerable, but bad behavior.

His concept of sexuality is fundamentally flawed on a BIOLOGICAL level, and I think that is the approach we have to take to challenging his ridiculous claim.

18. Should someone refer him to the studies regarding the genetic of alcoholism?
Alcoholics don't CHOOSE to be alcoholics either.

There is a genetic predisposition to alcoholism.

It is an invalid comparison because a person who is an alcoholic can live a perfectly good life without alcohol, but a gay person cannot live without love.

27. Right some people have such a propensity for alcoholism in their family that
Edited on Fri Dec-19-08 09:51 PM by applegrove
they can be alcoholics without ever drinking a drop of alcohol. They just are born without the enzymes to process the booze. They are who they are. Alcoholism is a distructive lifestyle. So people should avoid that.

Being GLBT is natural too and not a destructive lifestyle because it is about love. A destructive lifestyle would be to be forced not to be who they are. Think of the trauma people go through as teens when they are afriad to come out to family. That is unhealthy.
