Pastor Rick Warren: Gay marriage akin to incest, child rape and polygamy:
Rick Warren: But the issue to me is, I知 not opposed to that as much as I知 opposed to the redefinition of a 5,000-year definition of marriage. I知 opposed to having a brother and sister be together and call that marriage. I知 opposed to an older guy marrying a child and calling that a marriage. I知 opposed to one guy having multiple wives and calling that marriage.

Steven Waldman: Do you think, though, that they are equivalent to having gays getting married?

Rick Warren: Oh I do.

4. I knew he was wavering during the election
but never in a million years did I think he would reach out to a crazed right wing evangelical lunatic who hates gay folks and ask him to participate in the inauguration.
slap in the face indeed. the slap heard round the world.

6. Friend emailed me this
Obama To Gay Rights Progressives: Drop Dead

"Wait. Let me get this straight. No repeal of DOMA for at least four years. No repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell for at least two years. And no policy push on gay marriage ever.
http://www.mererhetoric.com/archives/11275211.html

But yes on amnesty for 12 million illegal Latino immigrants, already the only demographic that consistently supported Prop 8 and one that opposes gay marriage in inverse proportion to its degree of assimilation. And yes on sucking up to murderous gay haters in Iran and Syria while ratcheting up pressure on Israel, a country that unflinchingly protects gay rights and serves as a refuge for persecuted Arab homosexuals.

And now Rick Warren on the dais:........"

5. I suspect we should expect MANY more slaps

We are not only expendible, we were brought on board to be expendible, as ballast to keep his campaign from swinging too far to the right and as something that can be chucked overboard the moment things seem to be sinking.

In other words: same shit, different administration.

It's not like we voted for change or anything.

7. I think that although Obama had veto power
he might have been between a rock and a hard place on this one.

Somebody wanted this fat bigot awfully badly, probably to embarrass Obama.

He was damned if he did and damned if he didn't.

I think Warren is the problem, not so much Obama. At least I hope that's the case.

However, I am disappointed he rubberstamped the bigot.

13. Uh, no... They are friends and have been for many years.
The friendship is even mentioned in Obama's last book "The Audacity of Hope".

11. Liberals were foolish
to trust that Obama really had our interests at heart. I should have written in Kucinich's name the way I wanted to. I feel so betrayed.

12. Nah.
This is a really dumb thing for Obama to do, but I don't believe for a minute that he's going to abandon his pro gay rights policy agenda.
