1. Are you serious -- I mean, series?
Has he taken positions in favor of alternative energy?
He damned well better have if Obama's putting him in that
job. No business-as-usual Rethug should get that job --
it needs to be someone who was willing to go against the
GOP's pro-oil grain ...

6. Apparently he is genuinely pro-infrastructure

<snip>
He voted in favor of raising vehicle fuel economy standards and co-sponsored legislation, with Emanuel, to extend health insurance to those without it. Yet he also has supported his party on core issues, such as putting up a fence along the U.S. border with Mexico and extending a program allowing wiretaps without warrants.

For some crazy reason, I thought I heard in Obama's acceptance speech that there would be "no re-treads"...but it seems like that is all there is...

10. ~sniggle~
I wonder if all of the questionable appointments haven't actually been made on the basis of "what would be best for the headline-writing editors?" Well, except for Clinton. That bad choice was just to fuck with us.

Yes votes
- Military Commisssions Act of '06
- Electronic Surveillance Modernization Act
- Secure Fence Act of 2006
- pledged support for the War in Iraq and rejected a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S. troops.

No votes
- Measure supported a ban on cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment of detainees held by U.S. forces and to requires the military to follow the Army field manual for interrogations.
- Would have repealed restrictions on federal spending on embryonic stem cell research.
- A measure expressing the House's disagreement with President Bush's planned troop buildup in Iraq.

16. Clinton impeachment chief.

Moments before the impeachment votes, Democrats tried to bring to the floor their own proposal to censure Mr. Clinton. But after some debate, their motion was held to be not germane to impeachment and ruled out of order by Representative Ray LaHood, an Illinois Republican whom Speaker Gingrich named to preside over the impeachment proceedings.

Gotta wonder what "Censure and Move On" will have to say about this one.
