Rep. Jerrold Nadler for SENATE! I want a FIGHTER!
This is the guy that made this Californian take a look at New York's Political Rock Stars

I remember him as one of the lone voices calling Clinton's impeachment a snow job

Since then he has fought against FISA, renewing the PATRIOT act and several other big ticket issues.

I love that man!

This is NOT saying Caroline wouldn't be a great choice, too...;)

7. I have nothing against Caroline
But NY has a lot of good people who could fill the seat.

9. True, but if Caroline is Paterson's choice, I'm okay with it...

16. Louise is great. She also would be 89 years old at the end of her first full term
which is undoubtedly why she isn't seeking the position and thinks it should go to Caroline Kennedy.

14. There's a lot of talent in our current politicians.
There's no need to pick someone based on their last name.

3. I'm with you
He's been great, and he'd be great. One of the liberals and Constitutional purists.

While I applaud Caroline Kennedy's academic and literary and Constitutional Law credentials, and I think she'd probably do a worthwhile job - after all, Hillary Clinton has done pretty much nothing except get ready to run for the nomination - but what gnaws at me is the entitlement issue. She wouldn't be considered if her name were Caroline Jones.

Nadler, though, won't get it, which bites.

10. That wouldn't take much.
We can thank Schumer for Mukasey (among other things). Nadler, who is my Congressional representative, is far from perfect but would be (IMO) a much more experienced and effective choice than Caroline Kennedy.

13. Plays well in the City, not so well upstate, probably same kind of reason that
Kucinich is a Congressman rather then a Senator. Urbanites are more liberal then more rural areas
and the Senate is a statewide seat

17. yep. He'd make noise, but not be terribly effective given the way the senate works
The most effective senators are the ones that other senators want to be associated with. HRC was effective even as a freshman because of her proven ability to attract popular support and campaign donations. If you were running for Congress from another state, associating yourself with HRC would be a net plus. Same for Jim Webb, whose military cred was highly sought by other senators. Jerry -- a great congressman, but not someone that a senatorial candidate from anywhere else in the country is going to make a point of horsetrading with.

15. Jerrold Nadler would be great for the senate
New York has an embarrasment of riches when it comes to talent . I wish we had just a fraction of it here in Indiana
