Giuliani to replace O’Reilly on the radio?
December 17, 2008 --

EVERYONE knows Bill O'Reilly is quitting his radio show to concentrate on his Fox News TV program. Now, Page Six has learned the leading candidate to succeed him is Rudy Giuliani (above). Westwood One, which syndicates the O'Reilly show, is negotiating with the former mayor. Giuliani, who doesn't suffer fools gladly, famously ridiculed a ferret owner on the radio in 1999, calling him "deranged." Some wonder if Rudy could sit for three hours a day chitchatting about politics. The other question is how it might affect his possible gubernatorial run in 2010. Giuliani's office did not return calls.

1. If Guiliani doesn't suffer fools gladly,
I expect to hear about a murder-suicide in his mansion any minute.

14. Don't make fun of his speech impediment
Be bigger than that. Criticize him for letting the police run wild and clearly not giving a shit about anybody not rich and white.

17. He's going on RADIO. The speech impediment is a big thing.
And Rudy isn't a 6 year-old (on t.v.) that can pull that kind of thing off.

21. Meh. His crazed run for president and enormous load of baggage are easy pickings.
Making fun of his Sylvester the Cat/Daffy Duck oratory style is far more entertaining.

30. It's offensive

People with speech impediments often have a rough time, especially in childhood. They are picked on mercilessly for something that is out of their control. I don't see anything funny about making fun of him for that. I also don't see the point, when, as you pointed out, there's plenty of other material to work with. On the serious side, there's his fascist tendencies, and on the more humorous side there's his infidelity and propensity for frequently mentioning 9/11.

Addition on edit:

In fact, now that I think about it, getting picked on for a speech impediment could possibly be a factor of why he turned out to be such a maniacal bully.

3. If There's A Radio Left...
Most major broadcast radio chains are on life support right now...just hoping to make it past the New Year. There may be little radio for Rudee to be heard on as stations are shuttered across the dial and country next year. Who needs the "Fairness Doctrine" when the industry's own greed and arrogance are about to turn it into a graveyard.

The "glory days" of Hate radio are 10 years in the past now. The election was as much a repudiation of the genre as it was against the repugnican party in general.

I knew it would be a matter of time before he resurfaced on radio.

LESSER CAREER

POOR Eliot Spitzer (above). The disgraced ex-governor makes his first public appearance since getting caught in a call-girl scandal - and it's at a former massage parlor in Chinatown, a lounge called Happy Ending. Spitzer, a new columnist for Slate, was there Monday night for the online magazine's Christmas party, where he was surrounded by journalists. When a reporter for the Financial Times asked him how he was enjoying his new career, he replied, "It sucks. I used to be governor of New York."

Oh joy, that's just such great news! It's just what the radio world needs!

I wonder how many times an hour he'll be mentioning 9/11 during his show? Or will he get up on his high horse about the sanctity of marriage?

15. Seems lke a fairly even swap to me.
One asshole for another.

I just don't think he can keep Billo's audience. His history re: social issues makes the Billo crowd break out in hives. I predict he won't be in that seat for long. He's been too nasty of late to draw the audience he once would have, but he's not quite ugly enough to hold on to the far rw loonies. He'll be replaced soon enough by someone who either is a RW loony or willing to play one for a living.

24. He had trouble doing that one hour a week...
when he was Mayor.

No way he can handle 3 hours a day without a major meltdown. Besides, his major market would be NYC and surroundings, where he is not exactly loved any more.

(I happened to be listening during the Great Ferret Meltdown-- it was not pretty at all.)

Due to his bad speaking voice he'll go over badly, kinda like his presidential run.

31. so how do you remain in the republican eye while you wait for your next shot
you get a tv show like huckafuck
or a radio show like ghooliani

maintain your name recognition
enlist new support
have a forum where you can spout off every day and you
do not have to deal with an antagonistic host because
YOU ARE the host.

and you get paid rather well.

This is not good news folks
obama hasn't even been fitted for his tux yet and these bastards are
out building the attack machine.
