DU’ers, don't hesitate to remind Republicans at appropriate moments,
"What if the idiot in charge had gotten his way with our Social Security?”

Think about where SS would be now! :scared:

2. What the nit wits think SS should be either privatized or done away with because its welfare
Besides their 401K's haven't lost any money they put down on it, just they had a little set back so they only lost the interest not the investment, so 401 k's are much better then SS and all americans deserve to have all SS monies transfered into 401k's.

I mean really they are in their 30's and 40's so theres all kinds of time for their 401 k's to be back where they were before the current economy mess. Remember your not dealing with people that live in reality, they are like their hero Joe the non plumbing plumber. They too will get their trickle down rewards soon.

3. you shoulda been here on DU for the privatization wars
they're not nitwits, BUT where they step over the line is in making their decision for everyone else.

The way it works right now is they have a choice - keep SS and augment it with addition investment or just rely on SS.

But for people who do not have a choice, having SS funded based on our working population growth and mortality measures is the ONLY way it can pay even as little as it does. There is no guaranteed minimum from any investment scheme, so under the nitwits one-size-fits all idea we'd eventually have to round up the millions of sick broke homeless old-fokes and euthanize them or pay to house them; both options bringing their own expense and advantages to Dow chemical, undertakers, or the construction industry instead of that money just staying in the SS trust fund.

5. They did get their way, we just haven't felt the effects yet.
This round of deflation is for levering debt to buy undervalued assets. The coming heavy inflation, will make the debt cheaper, a kind of twofer.

They always promised a SS check, but not what it would buy you.

You can be angry about SS now, we are being robbed.
