RNC protester was Tasered 4 times, passed out from pain, and then arrested
Charges against RNC protestor continued for dismissal
Ted Dooley Law Office, Legal Firm, December 15th, 2008

St. Paul.--Today, 15 December 2008, misdemeanor charges against Jason Brian Johnson of "obstructing legal process" were continued for dismissal for six months. No plea was entered.

Mr. Johnson was tasered at least four times by at least two officers on 2 September next to Mears Park on the evening of the the Poverty March on the RNC. The original report on Johnson's felony arrest claimed he was involved in a "conspiracy to use a harmful substance." Apparently the substance remains a mystery.

Press Release, RNC 8, December 16th, 2008

Call (651)266-3222 or e-mail RCA@co.ramsey.mn.us (cc: info@rnc8.org )

As part of our pressure campaign against Ramsey County Attorney Susan Gaertner we are calling attention to her 2010 run for governor of Minnesota on the Democratic ticket. She's already starting to fundraise in the hopes of being another in a long line of politicians with rhetoric of change but with policies of repressing dissent. If she continues with the charges against the RNC 8 and the other 10 felonies in Ramsey County Court, let's not let her campaign run in peace!

Friends of the RNC 8 are asking you to again take five minutes of your time to demand that all charges be dropped against the eight alleged "leaders" of the RNC Welcoming Committee. In what appears to be the first use of criminal charges under the 2002 Minnesota version of the federal Patriot Act, Ramsey County prosecutors like Gaertner have set a dangerous precedent for the future of political organizing.

2. Done.
I used to have Free Speech TV on satellite and I taped hours of the RNC protests in 2004. Lately, I feel like I've fallen into the black hole of fake news and I need my "Democracy Now" back. Thanks for the reminder of what the bastards did and are trying to do to our constitutional right to political dissent.

10. Thank you. It's funny that you posted that
because as I was typing I was thinking, "Man, I don't know whether it's stupidity or laziness that I don't watch DemNow online". I think it's a combo.

3. Do you have a link on this?
I'd like to read the rest of the article.

I have a personal interest in this case because Jason is my daughter's S.O. I haven't talked to her in a couple of days and didn't know there had been any new developments.

I don't get it--what does "continued for dismissal for six months" mean? Does it mean they are going to drop the charges in six months? Why not drop them right now, since they obviously don't have a case?

8. see the great links for RNC updates, trials, old news, pictures, video
Please stay updated.. we need all the out of state support we can get.
and please host a party to show "terrorizing dissent".

It shows Jason being taser, which is very hard to watch. I was at the park (which is basically as small square surrounded by talk building. the law-enforcement was harassing or intimidating so many people I didn't even see the bad altercations like Jason's. It is disgusting and shamefull, and I would like to really know which law-enforcement did the worst acts of abuse that you can see in just this one documentary. Where they St.Paul cops ? Cops that were here from TX? or IA ? or the conservative suburbs?, or maybe Secret Service, or military ?

Here is the best website: http://rnc08report.org/index.shtml
then this: http://www.indymedia.org/en/index.shtml
and link for several documentaries: http://rnc08report.org/documentaries/index.shtml

We have yet to hear of any arrests of law-enforcement.
and by the way the Sheriff just got a 3% raise.

Is it just me or is there an awful lot of legal mumbo jumbo when it comes to the RNC arrests?

9. the GOP gave the cities 50 Million for law-enforcement and law-suits
If it can happen in the Liberal Twin Cities.. Terroring Dissent with Militarized Police can happen any place.

But the cities and counties where not given money for the hearings.
