Traffic here in Baton Rouge is a beeyotch, the stores are busy, and I think I could find another accounting job fairly easily if I lost my present one.

We're so low on so many education, health, and crime ratings that I felt the need to brag for a change.

1. Yeah. You can get lots of toys and electronics from China but
we can't seem to finance education or health care.

5. Please factor in cost of living.
You can live just fine in Texas on 40k
or even less depending on location,
meaning the non-gentrified parts... or
even very nice areas if you rent.

I live very well under $3000/mo in a very
nice part of town, but I rent and don't
have much overhead or debt.

I expect Louisiana to have an even lower
cost of living than Texas.

7. I agree - poor folks live inexpensively. And water is wet.

4. Ditto that.... the billboards touting jobs of all sorts, especially marine
related thingies are overflowing along I-90.

6. The economy here in Texas is slowing or dragging a bit..
.. but it's not nearly as bad as some places.
