Detroit bail-out would have helped right the imbalance in federal funding for the states...
The Northeast and Coastal States have hugely subsidized the South and Plains states - and Alaska. This bailout would have been a small step in redressing that balance.

Michigan gets back 94 cents for every dollar sent to Washington.
Richard Shelby's Alabama gets back $1.63
New Jersey is the most ripped off - it gets back only 67 cents for every DOLLAR sent to Washington.
Sarah Palin's Alaska gets back $1.83 for every dollar it sends to Washington.
