Workers ..... how does it feel to be raped, sneered at and extinguished?
Know thy enemies. For those of you who are just waking up. It's union busting time. Last night was one step in the process.

Here are three DU quotes from another post.

1. The first is cynical in a perfect brute force of honesty.

"Well, it's the workers' own fault really.
I mean, they all should have gotten careers as Wall Street financial executives. Then Congress would be begging them to take billions of dollars of taxpayer money."

DUer - Zenlitened

2. The second briefly explains that last night's vote was about posturing.

"Posturing. GM will not be allowed to fail.
Here's why: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

There's too much money at stake in GM. Bush doesn't want to see it rescued. GMAC could not qualify for the status of a bank and therefore could not get TARP money even though they are a huge home mortgage holder. Democrats wanted to use the TARP money to bail out the auto companies. Remember? Now, Bush signed off on a deal to use other money for the auto companies, but his buddies in the GOP Senate are holding the deal up. This is in-fighting amongst conservatives in my view. John Snow and Dan Quayle are associated with Cerberus Management which owns 51% of GM and 80% of Chrysler. This deal will go through. The union busting is the goal, and the unions should strike until the Democrats have more clout in the Senate and can push it through. This is going to be a bleak Christmas no matter how you look at things."

Duer - JDPriesley

3. The third explains why Harry Reid had to vote no...

"Correct, Reid's vote was procedural

Durbin made that clear in his remarks. Reid switched his vote at the end to leave open the possibility to reconsider. It is common for the majority leader to do that when a cloture motion fails."

Duer – Democrattotheend

So... The vote is posturing to bust the unions - Reid's action was procedural.

Not enough Dems were there to hold out. Republicans showed what they are made of - again - they are Congressional leaders who are there for the corporations and not for the people. They are nearly 100% manipulable for big business. They have given their all for corporations. They have given nothing to the workers unless we call the ceo's and cfo's of the top 5% of corporations - workers.

FYI: The thread below contains the quotes above – the subject line is not strong enough to last and these three posts will help others understand.

1. I bet those UAW workers that vote republicon are now kicking their own asses
Yes UAW workers did vote republicon, in fact here in Michigan the biggest anti democratic Governor people are UAW workers, anything she does they dislike. They also filled the Michigan houses with cons then complain that the governor isn't getting anything done, meanwhile the cons are blocking every move the Gov tries to better the state. All in the name of lower taxes, why worry about taxes when you have no job to be taxed on, stupid fucks.

3. I can hardly wait my turn
Our Xmas volume is down a third at the ever maligned in the media editorials USPS. Lower gas prices are helping, but our failed management- actually appointed by superfriend George Jr. Bush. OUR bailout may be exactly the same amount eventually. Our political clout is wider spread over the states but so is the union punch. Since the GOP and media are STILL successful in setting the TP's this is what you will get and ONLY get.

The antiquated USPS which has been privatizing and modernizing for twenty years under GOP wisdom needs more of the poison and should be totally broken up and/or privatized. Goodbye salaries and unions and service standards. The taxpayer of course, as has been noted by angry UAW workers, will still be on the hook for the service mandates, the retirement funds, the cost of ruined jobs, etc. The hoopla and promise of privatization will still be taken seriously though it cannot work even as poorly as in other nations softly stepping into that mire. It will be far worse, so much so I am confident no pleasant surprises are in store even if I am half wrong.

At least my future will be debated in a Democratic government, not this sham hysterically blustering on through December. If we had only to go by the continuing precedent of this debacle, your USPS and my job and hundreds of thousands of others, are simply doomed- there is no other adequate word for it. These are only the sensational forerunners of widespread destruction everywhere in the American infrastructure forced to follow the barbarous downsizing that is the FIRST and only choice of private corporations making their employees suffer for the sins of the CEO's and a couple temporary points on the stock margins.
