Look Back - On 11/21, Obama Ally - Dick Durbin Announces That Patrick Fitzgerald Should Stay...
Edited on Tue Dec-09-08 06:36 PM by Median Democrat
Is there any wonder why Blago kept on referrig to the President-Elect as a motherf*&cker? Illinois Senior senator, Dick Durbin, who is a close Obama ally, was publicly recommending that Obama retain Patrick Fitzgerald in several news stories last month.

Sen. Dick Durbin said Friday he will recommend another term for corruption-busting federal prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald if he wants to stay on as Chicago's U.S. attorney.

Durbin told a news conference that he first wants to sit down with the city's top federal prosecutor and ask him what he wants in the future. Asked if he would recommend that President-elect Barack Obama renominate Fitzgerald, Durbin said: "Yes."

"I think he has done an extraordinary job as U.S. attorney; I have the greatest confidence in him," Durbin said. "I want to do what he wants to do, I want to support what he wants to do and I won't presume what that is."

1. Keep him? Hell, he oughta get a Christmas bonus!
I know the job's a political one & maybe all other 70+ US attorneys should go. But this guy is national treasure. Durbin's right on this one.

2. Still, It Underscores Blago's Stupidity, Obama/Durbin's Endorse Fitzgerald...
Yet, Blago believes that he can shake down the President-Elect based on the possible nomination of Valerie Jarrett? How did this guy get elected Governor, becuase the stupidity in messing with the President-Elect is breathtaking, particularly when the President-Elect has all but re-appointed Fitzgerald, since Durbin is not going to endorse the appointment of Fitzgerald without some coordination with Obama otherwise Durbin would have looked foolish.

3. "How did this guy get elected Governor"
Apparently, that doesn't take a lot of brains. It must take connections or ruthless ambition or something, but actually skills?

Witness...

Bush in Texas (last thing he got elected to)
Palin in Alaska
The Gropenator in California
Pawlenty here in Minnesota

Seems like a high office for such low-quality people, but it happens a lot.
