Corruption is corruption, Stevens shouldn't be a free man like he is after accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars and free work on his house by people whom he gave political favors to, but if a Democratic governor tries to sell a seat, he is locked up. I am not defending the accusations, if he was guilty of accepting bribes, then take him away, but if one can walk around free even after being found guilty by a jury why shouldn't Blago

The stuff on tape is more than enough for an arrest. He must be ousted from office, he must not be allowed to make an appointment. And he is free....on bail.

12. Ted did talk
He said something about going to jail if found out.

That said Ted should not have been allowed to run after than conviction. He should be in jail.
Fugg all the crooks.

Double standard. When a Repuke commits a crime, he goes free...
When a Dem commits a crime, he goes to prison and both, Repukes and Dems crucify him verbally.

8. Different situations
They both abused there office and are slime, but the went after Stevens for failing to report gifts. The went after Blago for conspiracy to commit mail fraud and wire fraud, as well as soliciting bribes.

The question should be, why didn't they go after Stevens for more?

15. can we even try to get the facts straight?
For varying reasons, sometimes prosecutors will cause someone to be arrested while in other instances they have a grand jury issue an indictment. In Stevens case, he was arrested, taken to FBI headquarters (not "jail"), and later that day appeared in court where he was released on his own recognizance. Stevens was indicted and turned himself in and after his court appearance, he too was released on his own recognizance.

Why an arrest in one case and indictment in the other? I can't say for sure, but the need for immediate action to prevent Blago from carrying out his conspiracy (as opposed to STevens' situation where he already had acted) would seem like a logical guess.

to Obama's senate seat.

18. exactly.
Ted's crimes already were committed, so it worked to indict him rather than arrest him. With Blago, there was still the opportunity to prevent the conspiracy from being completed.
