That scum bag and all others like him should be expelled permanently.
That fugger has given M$Greedia a reason to attack us after our amazing victory. Fuck him!

6. Scumbag Jefferson threw away a seat controlled
by Democrats since Reconstruction. Still I do wonder why it has taken them so long to bring his case to court. Was he set up?

13. Jefferson's successor
The Vietnamese lawyer from New Orleans East will be a one term wonder. The (D's) will get the seat back in 2010. I think it was about the best case the district could hope for. The new rep will just be a novelty for the gop to tout out spouting about their inclusiveness. Between gao, piyush and sarah the republican party has quite an evangelical freak show for their future.

14. Thanks for that
I know it's historic for Vietnamese Americans but losing that seat is painful.

5. damn, that was fast-- proven guilty already, huh?
It's amazing how fast you can get a conviction when you skip the whole trial, evidence, confronting accusers, and court thing, isn't it?

7. True he deserves his trial but they have him on tape
trying to sell the Senate seat.
Durbin is calling for a special election since any candidate appointed by this jackass is now tainted.

8. I know, and Blago is pretty slimy regardless....
I just hate to see folks forget that even the worst among us is innocent until proven guilty-- and the court of public opinion isn't the place to do that.

I'm just pissed.

Question: Is it that Illinois is that corrupt or is it that they actually expose their crooks?

Anyone who lives in IL (as I do) knows this guy is shady, period. I WISH very much it wasn't the case, but it is.

I don't think it makes any sense to defend him at this point. That'd be like defending Ted Stevens.

11. If Blagojevich is never convicted of a thing, he is still an embarrassment to the Democratic party.
This criminal charge is really just the tip of the iceberg for what Blago has done.

16. heh...I know. This shit reminds me of when I lived in Malaysia.
They threw the opposition leader in jail there on a charge of sodomy, where the only evidence was the testimony of a shady individual and a stained mattress.

15. We Really Are Better Than They Are
If anything tells you the basic, core difference between the Democratic/liberal mind-set and attitude (public service), and the Republican/corporate/conservative attitude and intent (power, consolidation), it is the fact that, if you study the past several scandals, Democrats almost always thow them out, (Eliot Spitzer, Jefferson, Cynthia McKinney, etc.), and Republicans do not care, are not moral, do not throw them out (Craig and Vitter in Senate, Bush, Cheney, etc.). Almost always, with Democrats, if something immoral or corrupt is exposed, there is an honest reaction of "get them out of there"; when it is Republicans, these things are treated as "quaint" and "absurd," and there is no effort to do anything but cover it up, and attack anyone who is outraged--complete difference between thinking.
