Nanny State Politics: Fran Drescher Wants to Replace Hillary

Fran Drescher Hopes to Turn New York into Nanny State
By
Rohin Guha
December 08, 2008
We all knew that something like this would happen once Hillary Clinton got promoted and hopped on the Chinatown express bus to DC. Leave it to Fran Drescher, the star of Razzie-nominated tour-de-farces like The Beautician and the Beast, to be the first (and the loudest) candidate in what will probably be a frenzied race for Hillary's vacated Senate seat. Drescher's smart, though. She announced her bid yesterday, catching would-be objectors off-guard.

But let’s not moan and groan too much—though given her diplomatic work, at least she’s at least had some experience... http://www.blackbookmag.com/article/fran-drescher-hopes-to-turn-new-york-into-nanny-state/5380

Just imagine the filibusters!

1. Lordy! Instead, Dresher and Palin should form a comedy team of dueling accents.

2. I know it's shallow but that voice drives me insane.
If I see her (or hear her) on TV I immediately change the channel because that voice is like a dull knife cutting through my nerves - the long way. If she does end up in the seat, I hope she prefers to work behind the scenes and not take the spotlight (I know, what chance is there of that?). :(

4. Just the threat of her speaking on behalf of single-payer health care
might be enough to get it to pass! She could be our secret weapon.
