Bush: Bible, evolution not at odds
OK, now we KNOW he's been hitting the sauce again.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20081209/ts_alt_afp/uspoliticsbushreligionoffbeat_081209001052;_ylt=Apr_.9ZqgdJO.nzu4ofow2XYa7gF

US President George W. Bush said in an interview Monday that the Bible is "probably not" literally true and that a belief that God created the world is compatible with the theory of evolution.

"I think you can have both," Bush, who leaves office January 20, told ABC television, adding "You're getting me way out of my lane here. I'm just a simple president."

3. It must be liberating not to have to campaign for re-election ...
Now he can quit pretending he's a tee-total pious Christian.

What's going to happen? He's going to lose someone's vote somewhere?

No, it's off to Dallas to rest on his laurels for the rest of his life in a bubble where history has judged him favorably. In history, after all, we'll all eventually be dead, right?

5. Unfortunately, scientific know-nothings on both sides of the aisle maintain that idiocy...
All of this stupidity simply because "man would rather will nothingness, than not will", as one bright fellow once put it.

Sigh.

13. Yeah, scientific no-nothings like Gore, Kucinich, and Kennedy.
Who all happen to be non-fundamentalist Christians who don't find the theory of evolution to be incompatible with their beliefs.

6. I feel dirty
I actually agree with this.

"I think that God created the Earth, created the world; I think the creation of the world is so mysterious it requires something as large as an almighty and I don't think it's incompatible with the scientific proof that there is evolution," he told ABC television.

7. What an asshole
You know, the whole God thing, whatever pulls one's chain. But the bible? I just finished reading it again (I do this every few years)and it's a looooong stretch to say it's "compatible" with evolution. It's more like they have nothing to do with one another. Big disconnect. Completely Different Topics.

I know many religious people who are NOT disgusting hypocrites like bush are able to accept both God and evolution, but using the Bible doesn't seem to be an efficient way to do it.

I remember taking a biology course, we were assigned different critters to do a paper on. *I* got the Bombardier beetle and found out just what lengths creationists go to.

And a fairly cool answer from an older website to that bullshit.
