46 days left, Bush approval ratings climb

After dismal approval ratings for more than a year, some Americans are finally cutting President Bush some slack.

The approval rating of Bush jumped to 28 percent and is expected to continue increasing during the president's final weeks in office.

That's only a 4 percent increase from the 43rd president's record low of 24 percent, but pollsters predict Bush will enjoy renewed support that is common for outgoing presidents.

"The last three presidents, and four of the last five who departed at the end of a term, saw significant rises in their ratings. Some of these increases were evident beginning with the first poll conducted after the election," Gallup's Jeffrey Jones writes.

1. He hasn't done anything in a week
Which means he's done less harm in the last week than when he acts on something.

3. Reminds me of when an audience applauds because they're glad to get to the ending of a horrid show.

4. Wait for the pardons, then he will bottom out.
He may get a "sympathy" bounce when he dies, but this turd's destiny is worst president ever.

14. All I can say is...
if there's ever another president who is worse than Bush, then this country is seriously screwed.

I mean, for real.

I think we, as a nation, will probably survive this eight year disaster, but just barely...

:scared:

5. climb is a mighty strong word for a couple point rise.
If he really wanted his numbers to go up, he'd check himself into Leavenworth.

I'd have told them no amount of rewriting history will make him better.

of us. Did you notice the wording of the sentence? "Americans may finally be cutting President Bush some slack?" The mere wording in that gives away the author's bias, and implies that poor widdle Bush is the victim of a big old mean public.

Journalism has reached new heights of being pathetic.

That will be his legacy.

12. approval would SKY ROCKET if he turned himself in to Den Hague
or at least approval for his action would be enormous. he would finally do something in his life that was not based upon the fact that he is an egotistical asshole who has destroyed entire cities and nations.

in fact, if he put a gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger, he would be an American hero. he would be a true patriot if he took out Cheney first.

He will never be "rehabilitated," no matter how many talking heads or republican ops try to change this. Never. And he never should be.

18. I guess it is the same tendency that people have not to speak ill of the dead.

Some people feel that since prez shit-for-brains is on his way out, they can ease off the negativity.
I, on the other hand, still despise him as much as I ever did and cannot wait for him to get the hell out
of the White House. I would not give him a millimeter of allowance for anything.
I would show him the same empathy that he has shown to people less fortunate than he is. That means zero, zilch, nada.

21. Well, let's see, he hasn't done anything lately
So it makes perfect sense. All Bush has to do is not do anything, that way he can't fuck anything up.
