Bush's new neighborhood: until 2000, blacks banned - unless they were servants
Nice to know Dear Leader likes to make headlines even as he plans his exit. His new digs are in an exclusive Sundown Town community where the darkies could come in as hired help, but they couldn't live there. His new neighbors are also afraid the beloved Dear Leader will being the anti-Bush riff raff in.

As President Bush prepares to move into his new Dallas home at the end of his term, neighborhood residents worry about having him close by.
..."I am afraid with all the negative press the president has been getting, the whole neighborhood is going to be a target," said the woman, who refused to give her name.

...But the exclusive Dallas community the Bush family will soon join has a troubled history of its own.

Until 2000, the neighborhood association's covenant said only white people were allowed to live there, though an exception was made for servants.

Enacted in 1956, part of the original document reads: "Said property shall be used and occupied by white persons except those shall not prevent occupancy by domestic servants of different race or nationality in the employ of a tenant."

Bush is the riff raff.

4. hey, he's moving into a neighborhood that is all 21st century up-to-date...
must have been that y2k stuff that got them to change their covenant...now they have to figure out how to restrict war-crimes perpretrating, economy-destroying, Constitution-violating, treasury-thieving ex-politician hacks from sullying the 'hood...

i can just hear the neighbors..."You know, he has such nice parents. If THEY were moving in, that would be wonderful. But that son of theirs is just a mess...and who knows what kind of 'unsuitable' characters he will have around HIS house?"

5. Actually I had read it was 2006!!! that the policy was overturned.
Edited on Sun Dec-07-08 11:21 AM by tom_paine
I have not throughly researched this, so I might be wrong, but another article was more specific, saying the neighborhood association votes on their charter or whatever every 10 years on the '6 year.

If this is true (and I am certainly not sure it is) then it wouldn't even be possible for it to be repealed in 2000.

Anyone who is more interested in getting the full facts on this, feel free to confirm or debunk my assertion.

Don't forget to come back here and tell us what you found, because if I am wrong, I want to know it.

Jeez, what a lousy Bushie or Nazi I'd make!

9. There Goes The Neighborhood
"There Goes The Neighborhood"
SHERYL CROW

Hey let's party
Let's get down
Let's turn the radio on
This is the meltdown
Get out the camera
Take a picture
The drag queens and the freaks
Are all out on the town
And cowboy Jane's in bed
Nursing a swollen head

10. Of all the frigging neighborhoods to live in
he picks the one with THIS.

It's ALL been just a big F-You to the whole world. He doesn't give a shit about anyone or anything.

The media should run and run and run with this. But they won't...we'll just be reading stories about his INCREASED popularity during this time.

And the Revisionist Group will write on tirelessly aobut his 'grit' and his 'praiseworthy patriotism'.

The last phrase is 'mine'...I hope they don't use it...
