C-Span is a fucking sewer
I slept in late this morning. Sparkly was one her way out to a rehearsal. As she was getting ready, she had C-Span on.

OUCH!

Is there a nut requirement to be on there? Is there a hatred concentrator at work? Is there a vitriol quota? Do only morons and aging wing nuts call? And WHAT is with the Brigade Of Hateful Grannies? They sound like pissed off coupon clippers from the rental farms in Sarasota.

Can we PLEASE change the channel???????????

Needless to say ...... I'm up.

Gotta headache.

But I'm up.

2. It gives the nut cases an outlet.
They call C-span, dump their aggression and that way they don't have to yell at their Moms and get their asses kicked out of their basement digs.

Remember, they have phones, computers and guns. Which would you rather they put to use?

4. I think they encourage the nutty callers.
C'mon--it's television. It's also entertainment when we have the majority. I enjoy hearing them whine and some of them are really funny.

5. It doesn't surprise me. The effects of talk radio are SOOOooo underestimated by you guys.
Foxnews and Headline News is just the most visual components, but the REAL vitriol is on talk radio, which is on many places every day.

When I hear Washington Journal, I hear NOTHING that I haven't heard on talk radio.

You might remember Orson Wells' War of the World, but we're told people weren't "sophisticated" back then.

Ideas change minds. Present those ideas with a deep, authoritative voice, wrap it those ideas with catchy bumper music and stick in some common sense and flattery, and you'll have people believing that pigs live in trees.

If their friends are listening, then you have your peer pressure and reinforcement.

When my mother lived in Arlington, VA, I used to drive down from South Jersey via I-95. Even on that most traveled highway between Philadelphia, Baltimore and DC, there were long parts which I could only get religious stations and right wing talk radio.

Even in Philadelphia, which is the 5th largest market in the country, probably voted 90% Democratic, we don't have a SINGLE true liberal talk radio station, outside of NPR/BBC. We have a sports talk station, and a FEW Hispanic stations and a FEW religious stations, and a station which has cycling programming for Polish, French, and Russian, so it's not as if you need a giant audience with national advertisers to get programming on the radio.

I guess it must be nice to have satellite radio, and have a CHOICE, but the a BIG part of America, the voices they hear are telling them what you're hearing on Washington Journal.

6. Norm Solomon was Great today
I think their programming has been quite good of late...They had a person on talking about the bailout a few days ago who was on target and very informative... Amity Shales is an anti-labor fool, but it's interesting listening to her tout William Graham Sumner, the guru of social Darwinism, and try to understand what goes on in her little mind. Katrina was great following Shales.. I tivo the entire three hours every morning and watch what I want and fast forward through the rest.

Yes, there are fools and knaves calling in but some very intelligent people calling in, too.

Remember this, those with the typical world view of "trickle-down" lost the election. They are trying desperately to hold on to their failed ideology in the face of all evidence to the contrary.
