1. What's to discuss?
The banks get free handouts at the drop of a hat, while a business that actually makes things is told to take a flying leap.

5. Way to misrepresent reality, you freak
The finance industry is politely asking for a mere $800 billion with no oversight, while the auto industry is demanding a scandalous $36 billion with dozens of huge concessions.

Can't you see that the finance industry is once again getting totally hosed in this socialist economy of ours?

2. I have to hand it to Ed Schultz on this issue. He is doing his best.
Today he had a woman on - Deb - who is from Michigan and has worked in the auto, or related industries, since the 70s. She spoke eloquently and well and he gave her a lot of air time. She also thanked him, emotionally, for being there for the unions. She said a lot of her union brothers and sisters have commented on it.

There are times Ed Schultz drives me absolutely crazy and pisses me off. But there are other times he shines, and this is one of them.

7. I'm for helping ...

... the auto industry, because we need the jobs.

But I was dismayed to hear a bunch of UAW members (in an NPR interview) saying "we've already made concessions", and "it's not our fault".

Well, both of those statements may well be factual, but here is another fact. Union autoworkers will be making less money, or they will have no job at all.

The equation is not that hard to solve.

4. We can
But most of us opt not to. All that wealth they enjoy spending comes from us.

10. If the financials get theirs, and the auto doesn't, but go bankrupt & shed pensions
I'd be out on the street.

It has been done before, to the US steel industry.

the sheeple oppose bailing out automakers but when asked about the 8 trillion to the banks they are like "duh..". They repeat what they hear on tv and they have not heard much negativity about the bank bailout so it must be ok, ya know trust the government. So sad, seriously.

12. Class warfare was a topic you couldn't discuss for decades or
Edited on Thu Dec-04-08 07:20 PM by corpseratemedia
you'd be labeled a "commie" just bringing it up.

The incessant marketing of easy class mobility and anti-left propaganda made this sacrilegious for most Americans to contemplate, imo.

But I think it's changing. I think more people are realizing that an oligarchy actually exists, and that we're being screwed by it in multiple ways. Or that we pay, they don't...ever.

Not changing for the MSM, of course.

on edit: I don't trust the MSM narrative of this. If they constantly have to say that most americans don't support it, then maybe its not so true. If it is, then it's that many Americans support class warfare to hurt their own interests repeatedly, lol.
