and yes, some CEO's "get it". This was part of a conversation that I had. In essence, he was talking about healthcare and the fact that we will ride out this economic storm better than most businesses--at least for the first 6 months. At that point, he predicted that our industry would fall victim because people will have used their savings, their unemployment will start running out, people won't be able to hang on to COBRA policies...and then OUR industry will fall down and the already broken healthcare system will be stretched too thin and will break. People who were previously employed and insured will start using the ER's like the other people who have fallen off the grid and have no way to pay for it. I certainly hope Obama makes healthcare reform one of his FIRST priorities because if hospitals start failing and shutting down(and they will because most are all about the dollar)--what is going to happen to the sick people? I know there is already a segment of the population who live this scenario daily...but on a massive scale? My God. Finding bodies in the street could very well become a daily occurrence.
