Building the community: A guide to comments
Wednesday, December 3, 2008 05:04pm EST

The conversations among the online community on Change.gov serve two valuable ends, both of which will play a vital role for the incoming Obama-Biden Administration.

Each discussion between the Transition team and readers provides rich insight into the issues and priorities Americans care passionately about.

In addition, these disucssions also allow our team to provide a unique look into the work we do everyday and help make our jobs on the Transition as transparent and open as possible.

These online conversations are truly groundbreaking -- no other transition team has ever opened these types of channels of communication with the American people. We're proud of what we've accomplished so far, and look forward to building this dialogue.

We've read through the thousands of comments posted on Change.gov, and are excited by the volume of participation. To help make our discussions clearer and more valuable, we've put together some tips:

1. So is it true?
That the number 1 request was to re-open an investigation into the "terrorist" attack on September 11, 2001 and that it was just "erased" from the site? I've read that, but haven't seen the cache or any screen shots. That would be pretty shitty if it were true. If you've ever seen the footage of Building 7 "collapsing" from fire damage, or the 3rd airplane over NYC that seems to be ignored, or the live reports of bombs going off in the basements that seem to have disappeared from recorded history (I was watching them, so I know it was reported), then this would just be a big disappointment and "change" would only be in our minds.

2. No takers?
Huh...

The whole idea that a majority of people (like in a democracy) asking for a re-investigation of the 9/11/2001 incidents ends up getting ignored and shoved down the memory hole might actually be thought of as an important fact to consider while we embrace "change" is only interesting to me?

Maybe this is just "past history" and we should concentrate on today? I mean, it's not like this whole event had any impact on todays's conditions......

3. "majority of people ... asking for" See, here's the problem ...
... there are ways to determine if posts are originating from the same person.

Perhaps that's the real reason it was pulled?

4. I believe you heard wrong
This event was reported in the 9/11 forum as occurring not at change.gov but change.org and unrelated to President Obama.
