Reid: "the Bush Administration is not entitled to the benefit of the doubt"
Edited on Tue Mar-20-07 04:19 PM by Oreo
From TPMmuckraker http://www.tpmmuckraker.com/

“After telling a bunch of different stories about why they fired the U.S. Attorneys, the Bush Administration is not entitled to the benefit of the doubt. Congress and the American people deserve a straight answer. If Karl Rove plans to tell the truth, he has nothing to fear from being under oath like any other witness.”

Looks like they're not going to go spineless on this one.

6. Have to disagree with Reid here.
"If Karl Rove plans to tell the truth," he has PLENTY to fear--like sharing a cell with Bubba the Bugger for the rest of his rotten life.

This, of course, would be a good thing.

12. good catch
what he meant to say is, "If Rove is planning to tell the truth and there's no underlying crime" then he has nothing to fear.

20. Reid was talking about the oath itself, not the substance of the testimony.
If Rove plans to tell the truth he has nothing to fear from being under oath, in and of itself. I don't think anyone would contend that Rove has nothing to fear from the substance of his own testimony, which is of course why * wants him to do it in an out of the way room with no oath or transcript.

15. I certainly have no doubts about them.
Not that I ever did, not from the minute they began stealing Florida in 2000. Actually before that, cuz you know, Bushes and all. I may've had a doubt pre-1980.

16. Reid should note that this is not a national security matter
there is no reason for a closed session. It should be opened to the American people.

18. Say... isn't that what the govt says about us?
That if we have nothing to hide, we should let them listen in to our calls, monitor our bank accounts and internet usage?

I say what's good for the goose is good for the gander!

Besides. Did you hear his answer to the question the reporter had in regards to the people who were fired while investigating republicans? He really didn't answer it and it was asked a second time. This is why I want it on public record!

Dapper

25. Please Sen Reid - make zero accommodations for Turdblossom
KKKarl under oath before your committee would be the best early Xmas you could ever give us here at DU - short of introducing impeachment proceedings versus the Chimp and Cheney.

27. Exactly! Now granted, that's a pretty big "if..." Karl Rove telling the truth...
which is of course why the WH doesn't want him under oath, but they can't SAY that, now, can they???

Uh, fuckin' morans? We KNOW that already. It doesn't matter that you can't come out and say it...we're ten steps ahead of you. We know. OK? So you can stop lying now. It didn't work.

30. just a suggestion, call or e-mail these Reps or Congressman
to give them your support, to tell them we are listening, and we want some sort of accountability. Enough is enough.
