UN moves to urge worldwide decriminalization of homosexuality -- Vatican no likey
Take note that this is not about gay marriage. The Vatican wants countries to be able to PROSECUTE PEOPLE SOLELY FOR BEING GAY and not be frowned upon by the civilized world.

Are we allowed to say "fuck these stupid bigots" without the usual mouthbreathers whining that we are "persecuting Christians?"

Vatican makes clear its opposition to U.N. homosexuality declaration
By Carol Glatz
Catholic News Service

VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- The Vatican has made clear its opposition to the United Nations endorsing a universal declaration to decriminalize homosexuality.

Archbishop Celestino Migliore, the Vatican's apostolic nuncio to the United Nations, and Vatican spokesman Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi said unjust forms of discrimination against homosexuals must be avoided.

However, the Vatican does not approve of a formal declaration with political weight that might be used to put pressure on or discriminate against countries that do not recognize same-sex marriage, they said.

A draft declaration, drawn up by France and endorsed by the European Union, was to be presented to the U.N. General Assembly Dec. 10. It condemns discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. (more at link)

2. Nothing like ruining a post against bigotry by invoking bigotry.
You could have condemned the Vatican's decision and even the Vatican without attacking "mouth-breathers" who might "whine." If that makes me a mouth-breathing whiner, so be it. I refuse to hate with a broad brush.

And yes, the Vatican should be condemned by all decent people for this.

Person A sees news about the Vatican not wanting decriminalization of homosexuality.
Person A refers to the aforementioned Vatican people by "fuck these stupid bigots."
Person B says person A is "persecuting Christians."

And you say person B is NOT a mouthbreathing whiner?

EDIT: Worse, are you saying YOU are person B?

6. Amazing isn't - the anti-equality forces are hiding behind religion and we are not allowed
to say shit because we may offend the religious. Its not bigotry to call out bigotry.

17. Considering the relentless hatred the Vatican displays towards gay and lesbian people.
I begin to wonder what would be the point of condemning them anymore. The catholic church has an agenda it's been pursuing for quite some time. A theological war on gay and lesbian people. And they simply refuse to listen to others who are dismayed at their hostility towards us.

This is SLIGHTLY one level above Fred Phelps. Seriously.

Honestly, words fail me. I can't put into words how truly hateful this is.

3. Stupid and out of touch
only because of the possibility that it may lead to gay marriage. The Vatican is out of touch with the real world.

5. "Unjust forms of discrimination against homosexuals must be avoided."
I'm eager to hear the Vatican put forth some examples of JUST DISCRIMINATION.

Fucking bigoted assholes.

13. Obviously, they consider outright criminalization "just."
Else they wouldn't be complaining about this.

I wonder where they draw the line. Let's suppose Saudi Arabia decides to change the penalties for homosexuality, from death to life in prison. Will they frown?

14. The Vatican has been an enemy of enlightenment and the epicenter of right-wing idiocy for centuries
I have to say I'm not surprised.
