LONDON -- Happily contemplating another woman as the top U.S. diplomat, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Monday she will offer advice, privately, and then get out of the way.

"She won't -- and you won't -- hear from me again," Rice said on the day President-elect Barack Obama named Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to be the next secretary of state. "I will certainly not make the effort to comment on everything that is done."

Rice, in London on a farewell tour, said there's a lot to recommend the U.S. system of four-year presidential terms, and thus relatively short tours of duty for Cabinet ministers.

"You'll be a very hard act to follow," British Foreign Secretary David Miliband told her.

(end snip)

And, what was she doing in London you ask. Well, she did this while the world burns:

8. Did you read anymore than the thread title?

It sounds like she is happy for Hillary and will offer some advice before leaving. Not sure how you read that differently.

4. What will be great is the Nation will see what a successful
SOS work ethic is. Hillary sure as hell won't be out buying shoes during a natural disaster while a city drowns.

Hillary will not underestimate the Russians like the so called Russian expert Condi.

Condi don't let the door hit you on your way out...

5. Hard act to follow indeed
A surgeon will have a hard time following the acts of a butcher trying to perform a gastric bypass.

and think for a minute. Rice's tenure has been so meaningless and her accomplishments so non-existent that future historians will be forced to research who George W's second SoS was.

Give Hillary advice???

Condi, do us all a favor and quietly follow your boss into a well-earned obscurity.
