Bush to speak @ 5:45pm (ET) about attorney purge...
Edited on Tue Mar-20-07 02:38 PM by Cooley Hurd
Anyone wanna bet he announces Gonzo's resignation?

On edit: There was this cryptic exchange w/ Tony Snow today...

<snip>
Q Is the President determined to insist that Gonzales stay on, even as his support on Capitol Hill erodes even among Republicans?
MR. SNOW: Well, I think you need to take a look at what happens over the rest of the day. You're asking yesterday's question, not tomorrow's question. And the point is, you've had two Republicans who have spoken publicly, but now you also have data available. You have evidence available. You have people who have an opportunity to take a good, hard look at the documentary record. Let's see where it goes from there....

Q All the documents that have been released suggest that whatever mistakes the President has admitted were made were confined to subordinates to Gonzales -- or does the President hold the Attorney General responsible for those mistakes?

MR. SNOW: I think I'm going to let you read the documents rather than having me characterize 3,000 pages. I've not had an opportunity to read them all.

</snip>

10. I wish, but I expect this instead:
"We have bent over backwards trying to work with the congress in a bipartisan fashion, but the other side is just bein unreasonable. These were political appointments, serving at my pleasure. I mean the pleasure of the president. And they did not please me, so they were legally and properly let gone. We are in good hands in the Dept. of Justice. Alberto Gonzales is a concerned, hardworking and extremely capable Attorney Admiral. We are at war, and we need people of his calibers dessicating his time to the service of the county and the countstitutional.

There are way too many multiple syllables. The chimp can't handle that. Here, I've translated your message into chimp-ese:

17. No way...
here is the speech:

1. "Ive offered to have two of my staff members testify to congresspeoples about the atternies I farrd"

2. "Atternies serve at the pleasure of the prezdent"

3. "Ive provided the committees over 3000 pages of documents about the farr-ins"

4. "Atternies serve at the pleasure of the prezdent"

This latest "offer" is a last ditch effort to keep everyone in place. They are calling the Dems out for a battle. The last thing they will do is fire Gonzo, because that would give them motivation to keep digging at Rove and Miers.

Everyone stays in place until the subpoenas are issued or the Dems cave. I think the Dems are gearing up for a tough battle.

Edited on Tue Mar-20-07 02:36 PM by Hubert Flottz
The Demander in Chief will fire Gonzo in the end...The dems in congress will turn down a couple of crooks and cronies he sends up on the hill...he will wait until the Easter break and shit in America's Easter Basket and recess appoint JD Hayworth or Jeb or James Bakkker for AG. It's too bad this all didn't happen closer to Fitzmas recess.

Bill Clinton needs a job!

EDIT...Bush will say..."I Am Not A Crook!"

21. I Still Say The Deal Is * Giving Up Gonzo To Save Rove......
he'll announce Gonzo's resignation - which he received from him this afternoon. Gonzo will say he is stepping down because this is a big distraction to the job at hand and that is to win the war in Iraq - so I'm stepping down so that we could get the country back to work.

* will say I believe Gonzo is a good man and an exceptional AG - but I have to go along with his wishes. Even though I still stand behind him - I regretfully accept his resignation. There is too much going on in this country to have this partisan hearing go on - we need to put it behind us.

Gonzo will go.

The deal is that if Gonzo goes - the Dems will end the hearings and Rove is saved.

The Dems will be pounding their chests saying that they took out Gonzo.

Leaving Rove to be working up his next plan to attack the Dems.

30. The Dems need to keep persuing this, even if Gonzo leaves!!!!
There has already been obstruction of justice in some of these cases of dismissal, and that needs to be investigated!!

And it needs to go all the way up the food chain until something is done.

Dems can't just walk away from this mess. It's STILL the bush administration's doing, and it's STILL subverting justice! I want Ms. Lam reinstated!

27. After watching the conservative koffee klatch, this morning
on cspan2, with their born again constitutional scholars, decrying the horrid condition America has sunken to, I suspect the pressure is on. It was truly amazing and, of course, my hypocrisy meter was off scale, but the republicker stampede to get in front of this parade was gratifying.

Of course, they had to fu*k it up by continually referring to the "democrat" party and the "democrat" majority--faux patriots, they.

29. If that's true
And I'm not saying it isn't, but if MSNBC is right that there will be no bombshells in Chimpy's appearance this afternoon, that will just ratchet up the pressure for something to happen. The way it's going right now, Little Lord Pissypants is approaching the time when he has to shit or get off the pot, dictator-wise. He's got to either throw up his hands and concede defeat by reality, or he pulls an achtung, baby and declares martial law with the goons to back it up. If he comes out, blinks like a mole for five minutes, and mouths some smirking crapulosity about his faith and confidence in Gonzales, there won't be any stopping the shitstorm.

People are combing through last night's document dump, and have already noticed significant gaps. The Bush administration will have to address these gaps and that right soon.
