The Girl Who Silenced The World For Five Minutes.
Edited on Sun Nov-23-08 03:07 PM by JDwho
If you have five minutes to spare:

A friend sent me this video, from Youtube, of a girl speaking to a meeting of the UN. It's one of

the most inspiring things I've seen. BTW, she and her two friends saved to travel there for the

opportunity to be heard. My apologies if this has already been posted, but it's brilliant enough to

view twice.

1. Words, ideas beautifully spoken are more powerful than anything other force.

At the end of her statement a man walks towards her quickly to thank her on one version that has been posted at Youtube, but now I cannot find... :(

The man at that conference who greeted her is in this photo, too...

4. Your welcome, I was lucky to have a friend send it to me...
and "out of the mouths of babes" is right. I wonder how old she is? No more than fifteen, I'd think. She's seems so committed, composed and passionate about the condition of the world.

I loved it when she named all of the things we don't know how to fix, then tells us to stop breaking them.

5. I think she said was 12
and part of a group of 12-13 year olds. Wow. At that age, I don't think I had any concerns beyond what I would wear to my next 7th grade dance! Very impressive young lady.

10. So happy you posted this as I have been wondering
what the younger younger generation thought of the mess (we) had a hand in creating. Agreed LongTomH this needs to go viral. Again many thanks.

12. I was grateful, too, to see the really young generations POV.
I can't take the credit, though. A friend sent it to me, and some great citizen posted it on youtube; but many your-welcomes, anyway. :)

16. I've gone to this site a lot...but this made me join so I could speak
up as a young person, myself (early 20's). My mother got me interested in the process during the election. Anyway, tried to recommend this but I dont have enough replies. Sorry. I love what she said, and even though its kinda old, its how I feel right now (if I had a chance to talk to someone about how my children and grandchildren will live. Thanks, again. MY FIRST, no SECOND, POST!
